President Obama can talk all he wants about job creation but until he addresses the issues associated with trade with China and India we, the whole world, will always be on the losing end of the jobs discussion. The President needs to tell us why every other economy in the world has shrunk the last two years and yet China has continued growth, this past quarter they saw almost ten percent growth. Is China growing at our expense? What is our Government doing to protect us from predatory business practices by other countries? What are they doing to level the playing field of the global economy? How can A Americans compete? Well many say that there is no way to compete with countries who allow their citizens to be exploited as cheap labor. Everyone dances around the issue but how can any country which has human rights, workers rights, and a standard of living policy compete with countries that do not care about human rights, workers rights, or any standard of living? All this talk about stimulation means nothing when businesses which create jobs looks at their bottom lines and compare what it costs to employ an American or European worker versus a Chinese, Mexican, or Indian worker. American and European workers have 8 hour work shifts as well as overtime policies, vacation policies, and benefits policies. Workers in China, India, and Mexico have no rights, no policies, and almost no extracurricular events in their lives other than showing up for work every day every week, every month, every year. Businesses look at paying an American or European worker versus a slave labor workforce in other countries and the decision is easy, they go with the sweatshop, child labor, and salve labor workforces. What these businesses do is they hire these workers through third party salve trading businesses which are set up like job shops but in reality are human salve traders. You tell me how we can compete. And then we have everyone and their brother claiming to be all environmentally concerned and concerned over human tragedy like Haiti, and yet these same people fill their homes with products made by workers who are enslaved, beaten, mistreated, and abused. See when it comes to the bottom line, most care little about human dignity. You do not see CEO’s in these salve labor shops do you? No, they stay in their ivory towers so they can have plausible deniability. So if the President really wants job creation he will enforce legislation that makes imports equal in price to domestic creation, then let all workers compete on efficiency and ability and not on the basis of a slave labor workforce. We should be ahead of the dark days of slavery and yet we not only tolerate it, we encourage it. Our President needs to compel the world to bring living standards and wages up to legitimate levels, and then let us compete fairly, without this our big companies will continue to pursue the path of greed and continue to exploit slave labor to increase their bottom lines. We also have to stop buying so many imports as well as looking at outsourcing as a cure all. California Governor Arnold “The Outsourcer” Schwarzenegger has been a strong supporter of outsourcing and look where it has gotten his state, they are one of the brokest in the Union. Now the Outsourcing Governor wants California to address its prison system by sending thousands of undocumented inmates to specially built jails in Mexico thus outsourcing our corrections jobs, and further un-employing Americans, as well as having us pay to build the jails in Mexico. I say a better way would be to either take this money and hire more border guards, or just send the illegal’s back across the border, why should they be our problem and shouldn’t we do more than just consider outsourcing? Arnold “ The Outsourcer” Schwarzenegger stated, “I think that we can do so much better in the prison system alone if we can go and take, inmates for instance, the 20,000 inmates that are illegal immigrants that are here and get them to Mexico…Think about it — if California gives Mexico the money. Not ‘Hey, you take care of them, these are your citizens’. No. Not at all…We pay them to build the prison down in Mexico. And then we have those undocumented immigrants down there in prison. It would half the costs to build the prison and run the prison. We could save a billion dollars right there that could go into higher education.” Come on Governor, you have to do better. If we want to do better as a country then we have to encourage domestic creation and level the global playing field for precuts and services. England has figured this out. Great Britain has figured out the Chinese game and British officials have openly stated that they hope a fall in the pound during the recession will boost growth as British goods become more competitive abroad, and consumers and businesses switch towards buying British goods away from more expensive imports. Is this what the world has become? We have to hope for the value of our dollar to go down just to be competitive. Is that the real China price and is this what the President really should be addressing in his State of the Union Addresses?
