I think its time we ask our politicians to explain to us why we are fighting war on terror in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Pakistan when no other substantial countries in that area really seems to care about this war. Are we fighting this war to protect America or are we fighting this war to protect American businesses that have gone abroad? If the war on terror is a so called global war then why has China and India, who are much more on the front lines of this battle than we are, not involved in this war? China and India stand to gain the most from stability in this region and yet they do nothing to contribute towards addressing the war on terror. In addition, while America wastes valuable tax dollars in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Pakistan to fight a war, China and India are using their money to build infrastructure and produce better education and they are winning the war of economic attrition which is contributing to the domestic unemployment problem in America. While America goes into deficit to fight a war half way around the world, China and India are building cash surpluses while offering nothing to address the war on terror occurring right on their own front porch. We must remember that radical Islam has a severe distaste for India based on their religious differences, Pakistan was once India and it was given to the radical Islamists to pacify them from further attacking Indians who were non-Muslim. And the fact that China suppresses religion really infuriates radical Muslims and yet all of the war on terror focus and hatred is directed towards America because America is the one who is standing out alone fighting the war on terror. Sure Canada, Australia, and other countries are contributing but why doesn’t Saudi Arabia, Jordan, China, and India contribute as well since they are dead in the eyes of extremism? It’s simple. Because big business in the United States wants American soldiers in the area to protect their outsourcing and jobsourcing operations abroad but I say we must ask our politicians to end this practice and bring our soldiers back home. Maybe we need to remind them of the rising drug wars occurring in our border towns, or the rising kidnapping problem occurring in the Arizona and New Mexico areas, or how about we just remind them that we here in Michigan now have 100 less State Troopers protecting us because our state has lost tax revenue because big business has left our state and opened up in China and India. Well maybe if China and India did their share to protect their part of the world from extremism we here in the United States could focus more on economy and education like they do in India and China. It’s time we joined the real war of our generation which is the economic war and economic terrorism that so-called developing nations like China and India are exploiting to usurp American prosperity.
Hi,
I am an Indian. I read this small article, and I think it rightly addresses a very serious issue concerning America’s future generation. You are completely spot on in pointing out that America should concentrate more on domestic affairs now. But it is always a very hard task to get out of a war.
About India, the main problems for us to get involved in the war are two fold.
1. While majority of India is Hindu, but we have a massive Islamic population. About 13% of our population is Muslim. That makes it about 140 Million Muslim. The Muslims are generally very much against any kind of cooperation with America. Any government taking India on war in Afghanistan to cooperate with the US will be in deep trouble during the election as the Muslim tend to vote as a block.
2. Pakistan is a key ally for US in the war in Afghanistan. Most of the supply in to the Afghanistan comes through the Arabian sea in to the Karachi port and then through Pakistan. If India joins the fight, it will infuriate Pakistan for obvious reasons. India right now have development programs in Afghanistan, mainly road building and public health. Even that has made Pakistan apprehensive of our motives. That is why USA has never formally invited India in to the war. And I think it is for good of the whole region and the war as well.
If this war was being fought in the Kashmir region, it would have been much easier for us to join you. But with the whole country of Pakistan between us and your military, I can’t see ourselves fighting in this war in the near future.
