Bird Flu Found In America

As if the global economy has not wreaked enough havoc on Americans we now have the nicety of the Avian Bird Flu now in America. Reportedly, blood tests conducted on hens at Tyson Foods Incorporated led to the finding of antibodies of the H7N3 strain of the bird flu. In response to the findings the company killed 15,000 hens which may have been exposed to the virus. Avian Bird Flu originated in Asia and has slowly been trekking across Europe and Asia but it was considered to have been stopped in the far eastern parts of Europe and Indo China. However, last year it showed up in Canada and now in the United States. I know ducks and geese can fly but I don’t recall chickens flying overseas and making global treks so I have to wonder if this disease did not come over to us on a slow boat from you know where. Global economy has given us global warming, outrageous fuel prices, mass unemployment and reduced wages, and global hunger and now it is bringing global disease. USDA policy is to eradicate all animals affected by H5 and H7 subtypes and thus the reason for the 15,000 killing. Recently and outbreak of H7N3 at a poultry plant in British Columbia, Canada, infected two workers so the naysayers who say the problem is not real can take this up with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention which has documented this case.

The deadly H5N1 strain of bird flu has killed hundreds of humans overseas who had close contact with infected chickens. The major scare is that the H5N1 strain of bird flu virus could mutate into a form that would spread easily among humans, leading to a pandemic that would kill millions much like the influenza disaster of the early 1900’s. Just how bad does it have to get for the world to acknowledge that no good has come from globalization? Just who will protect us, what will our next President do t protect our economy and our health? The global economy has been a failure and has caused economic destruction, do we really need it to thraten our mortality as well?
