Are we liberating a country in Iraq or are we destroying our homeland which is the United States of America? Since the start of the Iraq war we have turned a federal surplus into the largest federal deficit ever, we have turned education into a joke as seen by growing dropout rates which the city of Detroit leads with an approximate %71 dropout rate, and we have normal citizens living in major cities being gunned down for going to school or the store or just hanging out in a park. I consider these issues and I ask myself, why are we trying to save Iraq when we cannot even save ourselves? I alos ask you to question your government officials as to why American tax dollars are being spent overseas when our founding fathers created taxes to care for domestic American needs only. Nine people were killed in 36 shootings over the past weekend in Chicago, doesn’t this sound eerily familiar to our situation in Iraq with insurgents? We have areas of major city’s being referred to by war zones dangerous sides, go to any major city and you will hear the names such as Chicago’s so-called gang-ridden West Side. I guess with rising unemployment based on outsourcing and jobsourcing we have a growing group of disillusioned youth who are turning to lives of crime and violence as an alternative to job-seeking. These unemployed are behaving much like the insurgents in Iraq, reportedly one of the past weekends shootings included drive-by attacks where a supply store was shot up with an AK-47, an AK-47 in America utilized in a drive –by? How can this be? In Detroit the youth have seen the erosion of the manufacturing market and this is why they are no longer focused on education, they see no job future so they see no need for education, this is a dangerous path.
In Chicago we have dropouts for another very dangerous reason, violence. Officials in Chicago have resorted to having police escort students to and from nearby public housing complexes to their schools because many children simply stopped coming to class based on fear an intimidation. It disgusts me to hear about better schools in Iraq, reduction of violence in Iraq, and economic stimulus in Iraq when we have none of that here in America. Maybe its time we have a good old fashioned shout downs of our politicians. Maybe we need the loud mouth antagonizers to get back out on the campaign trails and begin to shout down politicians running for office who allow American tax dollars to go overseas while American infrastructure and security erode here at home. Shout down and make your voice heard, its time we bring back jobs and security to America an allow the rest of the world to fend for itself for a few days.
