In case anyone has not noticed, America’s biggest fears should not be some bicycle strapped or camel riding suicide bombing Ji-Had Johammed idiot in the Middle East; it should be the highly technically advanced and manufacturing juggernauts of Russia and China. The US has just caught up with some individuals that sold top secret information to China and this was all kept hush-hush. Then you also have China listed by the Pentagon as the biggest threat to U.S. security, again a report that Washington wants hush-hush, and so do the Chinese business lobbyists, so maybe this is why you might not have China on your radar yet as a global threat.
And in regards to Russian concerns, you also have Russia on the economic rebound and they have begun to once again flex their manufacturing might by recently cranking out thousands of vehicles and war planes, and they have been using their new found flight by buzzing various countries in Europe with their highly sophisticated long range bombers. Recently America has encountered Russian planes over Europe and in other areas of the world. Since the summer of 2006, Russian long-range bombers have entered the Iceland Air Defense System surveillance area in the North Atlantic, coming within 35 nautical miles of Iceland’s coast and twice circumnavigating the island nation.
Recently, a Russian bomber flew very low over the Nimitz and other US warships when they were in international waters near Japan. Last September RAF bombers were scrambled to head off advancing bombers in Europe. In November, two F-22 Raptors intercepted two Russian bombers off the Alaskan coast, the first such encounter for the Air Force’s newest fighter jet. Russian bombers were also reported to have buzzed an American military base for the first time since the Cold War when they flew over the Pacific island of Guam, and now you have two U.S. Air Force F-15s being dispatched to meet the Russian bombers off the coast of Alaska.
It appears to me that the outsourced American Manufacturing, Information Technology, and the Foreign Energy Dependence has made America appear weak, throw in the crumbling American economy and the knack for pressing Russia and China on global issues, and you can see just why America should be a little more concerned about the communist powers that be and a little less concerned with Ji-Had Johammed.
If you have not seen the movie Red Dawn then I suggest you do, don’t think it can happen well think again. Most do not remember that Hitler had Japan attack Pearl Harbor with the idea that he had a secretive deal with Mexico whereby Mexico would come up through Texas and open a battlefront right here in America. Remember that although every cowardly CEO is trying to squirm into China they are still communist and hostile towards democratic societies and capitalist markets, and then you have the never-trusting Russians who look sideways at American policy and who as recently as the 80’s fought America via proxy in Afghanistan.
Remember that Russia has recently withdrawn from the Conventional Forces in Europe treaty and as a result Russian troop and weaponry movements are no longer bound to Nato reporting rules. So when you hear that the U.S. radar has picked up the Russian turbo-prop Tupolev-95 planes about 500 miles off the Alaska coast again you should be concerned because it has happened once and it should never happen again, unless there is a deeper issue we are not aware of. This time U.S. fighters from Elmendorf Air Force Base were dispatched to meet the bombers and escort them out of the area without incident but who knows what will occur next.
Maybe its time we consider keeping our manufacturing and technology base here in America rather than rely on outsourced resources which during a time of war could be cut off from us. I sure hope our next President worries more about American prosperity and security in America than abroad. It sucks to be subsidizing the improvements in other countries while America withers away.
