Presidential Candidate Barrack Obama said the most honest thing I have heard a politician say in a long time, he stated, “NAFTA has never put food on any Americans’ table.” How right he is. Additionally, I wantto know why our President in Africa and our Secretary of State and Secretary of Commerce are wasting time on Cuba when our American economy is in shambles and oil for Americans is over 100$ a barrel. Maybe these three should huddle together and figure out how to create some American jobs while at the same time addressing our domestic energy needs. And why in such turbulent times in America are we listening to a President in Africa speaking about the potential prosperity of Cuba, the political events in Afghanistan, and the aid and support for Kosovo when we here right here in America need the Presidents undivided attention. However, it’s not just the President, its all the Presidents men, along with the Florida Governor and our 2008 Presidential hopefuls. Let me ask these politicians a question, “If something happens here in the domestic United States, does any politician notice?” Our economy needs help, our trade policies need to be redone, and what are our politicians doing? They are looking abroad. Maybe they look abroad to distract from the mess they created at home but me and you have to live in this mess they have created so we need them to focus a little more on us and a little less on foreign governments and countries. President Bush stated that Cuban leader Fidel Castro’s choice to step down should spark a democratic transition for Cuba but what does that mean for America, in all reality nothing. With so many domestic issues needing attention what is our beloved Secretary of State doing, well Condoleezza Rice has been chairing a committee which meets to discuss and work on plans for a post-Castro Cuba. How about she worries a little less about post Castro Cuba and a little more about unemployed Detroit and Flint citizens? Again, President Bush speaking from Africa stated, “ The United States will help the people of Cuba realize the blessings of liberty.” Again, what is in that for me, I am more concerned about my neighbors being unemployed than what is going on in Cuba. Senator Mel Martinez completes the tri-fecta of press releases by stating, “ Today is not the ultimate day of change; it’s the beginning of a process hopefully that will lead to change, to real change. The initial change has to come from the Cuban government.” Maybe Senator Martinez should consider some new economic plans for his state and worry a little less for a still Castro led foreign country. To further our waste on Cuba, consider this, U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice is the Cuba commission’s chair, and Commerce Secretary Carlos Gutierrez, a Cuban-American, is the co-chair of this committee. How dare our Commerce Secretary look abroad to a foreign country when we have such a gigantic economic mess right here at home. How can the American Secretary of Commerce be faced with a crumbling economy and growing unemployment be looking into Cuban affairs? This is exactly what our problem is. Let’s also remember we have tried to fund democracy in Afghanistan and Pakistan and look where this has gotten us. We now have a nuclear powered Pakistan getting ready to be handed over to extremist leadership, and by the way India- good luck with that, India and Pakistan may soon be at nuclear war if things go as they look in Pakistan. Afghanistan is once again becoming the poppy seed capital of the world as well as the terrorist training ground of the ages. It’s America’s job to take care of America, lets not fail at home because we became overstretched abroad and Cuba, Pakistan, and Kosovo are just three more examples of stretching our American Government a little to thin.
Will You hold your politicians to a higher standard this election? Will you make them work for you and not the rest of the world?
thats for sure, bro
