During the 2008 Presidential Race we must not just complain about the state of affairs in America, we need to know why we are in such states if we feel that we are in a bad situation. Case in point, Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick has been hiding out for the past week because he has been found to be having an affair with Christine Beatty his chief of staff. The city of Detroit got nailed with a 9 million dollar judgment because of cops who were fired based on investigations of the alleged affair. Kwame, has been involved with numerous scandals or potential scandals in all his years of service and yet the people of Detroit re-elected him. You also have Tom DeLay and Larry Craig, didn’t someone elect them as well? The business leaders of America who have outsourced and imported away our prosperity have supported these dubious political figures and have been associated with companies who have thrived under favorable legislation towards their big businesses. Big Business has apparently lost their social conscience and this has led to our elected politicians being influenced by these dubious characters based on campaign contributions and funding. What kind of shape did we expect the American economy to be in when ran by politicians like the aforementioned who are supported by Big Business leaders such as David Colby of Wellpoint, or previous the HBO chief executive who was forced out after being charged with throttling his girlfriend, or the Executives like Dennis fastow and Dennis Koslowski, or the Boeing CEO who lost his job after admitting to an affair with a female underling? When we have corrupt politicians and unethical business leaders we have a troubled country and a weak economy. Economic growth nearly stopped in the last three months of 2007, according to a government report released on Wednesday which displayed the sharpest decline in domestic growth since 2003. The weak growth in the fourth quarter is the smallest increase in the economy in the past five years. It’s time we quit blaming politicians because in all actuality we elect them, and we also have to quit blaming Big Business because we still buy there products. It’s time you and me work together to make sure America straightens up and we do this with our 2008 vote for both the next President and the other officials running for office.
What will you do?
