State Of The Union Message, Good or Bad?

President Bush’s last State of the Union address was a little to be heavy on Iraq and not enough about true fixes for the American economy. When will this modern era of Presidents understand that it is the State of the Union, not the state of the globe? It’s time our politicians remember they work for America and not the whole world. If they want to work for the whole world let them apply at the U.N..However, in considering what was said and left unsaid, any mentioning of earmarking taxpayer dollars is a good discussion but did any of you really hear what was being said? House Republicans have repeatedly challenged Democrats to join their bipartisan effort to overhaul earmarks so it will be interesting to see what becomes of this. President Bush needs to not worry so much about a stimulus plan but instead work on a bipartisanship effort to create real domestic jobs. Forget a few hundred in a one time pop, let’s take these billions and create jobs that pay hundreds every week, and also keep our dollars in our own economy and not sent back overseas because of imported goods. Discussion of the overhaul of federal laws governing electronic surveillance is a much needed issue to discuss but just as pertinent is the discussion on making the 2001 and 2003 tax cuts permanent. We also need to make sure business in America, and not importing, gets a good tax break plan as well. In regards to free trade, this should be forgotten and all free trade agreements abolished, do we really need to lose jobs now to South Korea, Colombia and Panama, as well as India and China. Free Trade does nothing but damage the ability of American workers to provide for their family. It is a shame that American tax dollars go to support legislators who enact legislation that costs taxpayers their very jobs that have provided the legislators with their paychecks. I will say it again, enough about Iraq. How can we trumpet progress in Iraq when we are laying off firefighters and police in places like Detroit Michigan and Pontiac Michigan? Shouldn’t we be more worried about our own domestic safety then that of people half way around the world who take no responsibility for their own? The philosophy of trusting Americans and empowering them to make good decisions about their retirement is a joke, this is a cop out so that if social security fails in the future and you cannot support yourself the President can say it was all on you. Don’t we pay our Government to do this type of stuff; don’t fall for the bait and switch hype. You must also make sure that the President now, and the newly elected President in the November elections start to look more domestically and that they quit trying to save the world and make sure they take care of America. We ned real job creation and taxation that punishes imports and outsourcing. Don’t give me that BS capitalism and free trade and outsourcing is good BS, if it is soo good then why is our trade deficit becoming so gigantic? We need a lil protectionism if you know what I mean.
Economy fears should drive you as a American citizen, you need to make sure your politicians keep your jobs right here in America, don’t let them let big business sell you out. We need a state of the Union which details America and not everywhere else in the world. It’s time our politicians remember they work for America and not the whole world. If they want to work for the whole world let them apply at the U.N.

What state do you want for our union? Was this address good for you or not?
