Has Globalization Made Us Cannibals?

Globalization has turned us into immoral cannibals at times and the ones who have not been totally turned yet should be ashamed of their complacency. How many times have we read stories of child sweatshop factories in Asia and India and yet we do nothing but buy more of the product made from these inhuman factories. Don’t tell us the problems just tell us how cheap we can buy; is that what we have become? Has the globalization of the world become the champion cause of lost souls?

In Mark 14:7 Jesus states, “For you always have the poor with you, and whenever you wish you can do good to them” However, it appears the devil reads the bible as well and he searches out the poor much faster than we do and he exposes them for every outsourcing cheap labor profit buck he can. Is globalization the reason for losing our souls?

We allow toys to be sold to our children which contain deadly lead and we dare not stop production for fear of hurting the bottom line. We allow insurance companies to not pay on policies because it would cause them to withstand financial hardship and yet we think nothing of the policy holders who relied on the policies. And now we are allowing children in India and many other Asian countries to be sold into slave labor for the purpose of producing cheap products.

In the race to the bottom the child slave labor companies and any associated with them are the scum of the bucket, the lowest of low, I hope God has a unique place in hell for these bastards. Sure the big businesses say they knew nothing of the slave labor occurring, it was the sub-sub-sub contractor. Come on, we all know the contracts in Asia are too good to be screwed but rather than face our own souls we utilize the military’s don’t ask don’t tell policy.

That is disgusting and we should make a change today, not tomorrow, or after some congressional hearings, we need to make changes today. Think of the pour souls living in Cancer village in China, if we continue down the slippery slope of inhumanity that could one day be you and your family. In India a sub-contractor somehow associated with the Gap Stores was found to be in a very disgusting and inhuman slave labor situation. Reportedly the children worked from dawn until 1 a.m. and worked until they were so tired they became sick.

However, if they screamed or even moaned they got beat with a rubber hose or punished with an oily cloth stuffed in their mouths. In this one instance it is reported that the children were producing hand-stitched blouses for the Christmas market in the United States and Europe that were to be sold at the Gap Kids stores but there are others out there just like this instance. The Gap said they were not aware of the practice but before you accept their apology remember that they were involved in a very similar incident in 2000, when a BBC documentary uncovered young girls producing Gap products at a Cambodian factory in slave labor conditions. Remember the race to the bottom moves its slimy factories when either the cost of labor slightly rises or they get exposed.

The Gap says they do not support closing factories in India in response to the slave labor allegations because it would deprive others working in proper conditions of their income. We ll isn’t hat something, they have morals, or it appears. How twisted is it to say you care about those working in proper conditions but have little knowledge of those in the slave labor factories, maybe they did not want to know so they could not be held accountable.

Not knowing does not mean they did not know if you know what I mean. The Observer, was involved in the slave labor investigation spoke with a 10 year old slave labor worker who stated, “I was bought from my parents’ village in Bihar and taken to New Delhi by train…The men came looking for us in July. They had loudspeakers in the back of a car and told my parents that, if they sent me to work in the city, they won’t have to work in the farms. My father was paid a fee for me, and I was brought down with 40 other children.” Yeah this is a country whose values we should support by providing them with our business via outsourcing and importing.

Just think, these are the same people president Bush wants to share nuclear technology with.
