The cost of oil has jumped another 3$ or 4$ dollars for no apparent reason other than pure speculation. The problem with speculation is that we pay regardless of the outcome and the only difference is that if nothing bad occurs the oil companies get to keep our money and make bigger profits, another case of the rich get richer and the poor get screwed. Many say that the price of oil is jacked up for America based on Iran but we do not get any oil from Iran so what’s the problem? Go ahead and tell me, well it affects the overall world amount, but that is just a rich person talking who has made a buck off of the rising price of oil and the cost of conflict with Iran is what jacked up oil from 60$ to 70$ so isn’t this double jeopardy and isn’t double jeopardy illegal?
OPEC last month pledged to boost output so why didn’t prices drop in response? You need to contact your local Congressman, Senator, and Governor and voice your displeasure with the way oil is manipulated and the way you are being squashed as the poor middleman in this rich person’s monopoly of a dire need in all of our lives.
Remember, there is no cost rise in the production of oil, there is no new labor cost, broken or repaired part cost, or even a new tax, and you are only paying more because oil speculation is running rampant as the rich look for a new way to take from the poor. Crude oil prices spiked above $92 a barrel on growing tensions in the Middle East and renewed concern about oil supplies but that is the same reason oil spiked above 40$, 50$,60$ 70$ and $80.
When will the madness end? Will you one day be a slave for the cost of filling up at the pump? Will you have to sell off th wife and marry off the kids for the price of a fill up? Don’t forget, in 6 months or so the summer run up will begin again so if this is not resolved soon you may not even be able to afford to drive to work as you do now. Well, you may still be able to afford to drive to work but you will be cutting out the coffee fill ups on fill ups and skipping lunch at the office.
It’s not fair that big oil companies and OPEC gougers and rich speculators make millions and billions at the expense of the individuals who use gas to just drive to work each day to put food on the table. Just think of all those getting rich every day at your families’ expense. The price of gas keeps most poor and middle class from going on vacation every year but the rise in gas prices is fueled by the rich speculators who are going on their cruises and plane trips using money they made trading oil futures on the way up. They are paying for their fun with the fruits of your hard labor and this just should not be so.
Additionally, where is all the alternative fuels and all the Ethanol plants? Idiots want to rile up about coal but they forget that coal burns clean and it is an American energy source. It’s time we get behind coal, and Ethanol, and make our politicians do more to protect us from gas gouging and the ridiculous oil speculative market. Make your calls and write your letters today because tomorrow will be too late.
OPEC said they will pump a little more but how about a lot more. Additionally, we will be getting a ton of oil from Canada beginning in 2008 and why has this not reduced the run up on the price of oil? It’s because the rich cannot manipulate the stock market like they used to so now they have a new bitch toy that the poor will pay for their play with.
So tell me, what have you done to address this issue? Don’t you think we could use some new jobs based on Coal production and Ethanol production? Maybe the next President will address the concerns of America well before the needs of foreign countries. President Bush is a fine man but he needs to shore us up domestically and leave the rest of the world to fend for itself for a while.
