Just Who Is Leading The American Economy?

Just what is happening to Middle Class America? Maybe we need a real leading politically non-biased economic indicator like Wal-Mart’s to tell us just exactly where Americans are economically. Well, if you listen to the Wal-Mart CEO as have, Middle Class America is tapped out and they are experiencing problems with a stretched paycheck.

Other retailers have recently repeated similar remarks by saying that they also see that Americans are over extended with credit and potentially in big trouble with creditors. Wal-Mart officials went so far as to say their forecast is not as bright for the next quarter based on the poor economic position of its usual customer base. A Wal-Mart official stated that Americans are buying less because their paychecks are stretched too thin.

Do you feel stretched to thin? Maybe the average American just figures they will run their lives like their Government, spend what they don’t have and when the bill comes due just borrow some more from somewhere else but by all means forget about fiscal responsibility and paying the piper.

With November at the door millions of Americans usually begin their holiday shopping for their holiday gifts but this year there may be a lot less gift giving than usual and even the lucky few who can afford holiday shopping this year better worry about what they are buying. Another massive toy recall of dangerous toys imported from China showcases our government’s inability to protect and serve American consumers from potentially deadly cheap foreign imports masqueraded through legitimate American businesses.

Your holiday parties this year may inadvertently contain dangerous toys and deadly food from China and even though our own Government knows this, they have not moved swiftly to stop it. We have a Government who has not yet cracked down on employers of illegal aliens, deadly imported Chinese goods, or the uneven battlefield of the global economy.

So just what are we getting for our tax dollars in Washington nowadays? Well half the money goes to pay the politicians salary and the rest appears to be being jacked to Iraq which is leaving very little for our consumer protection agencies. Here is a recent example, Americas’ largest toy company, Mattel, has been recalling toys faster than it can outsource the labor to build them this past year and even another nine million potentially deadly toys imported from China in the last month has not stopped Mattel from importing more of the same and we hear nothing of legislation being enacted that will bring Mattel and companies like it to justice for the potentially lethal issues associated with deadly imported foreign goods.

So just what is the federal government’s system doing to protect American consumers from dangerous imports? Do you know? The cost of living has risen, the cost of energy has risen, and the cost of taxes has risen, but what in the last six years have you gotten more of for your increased expenses? And don’t just blame it on the President; it’s also the Senators and Congressmen and you if you did nothing to address this.
