Has anyone noticed that the Republican presidential candidates are acting like reporters for OK magazine or the Enquirer but not like a future President of the United States of America? They are spilling all of the dish about everything you ever wanted to hear about their fellow Republican candidates but they are doing nothing to show that if any of them were elected they would do what is needed to create long standing stable jobs in America as well as addressing the health care issues and the homeland security issues. They spend a ridiculous amount of time discussing who is the most conservative of the group as well as the he said she said game but in all reality, what are they telling you they will really do for you?
Disagreeing with Hillary Clinton is not a job qualification or a skill requirement so other than winning political partisan numskull points what does this really tell us? An intensified fight over which Republican is the true conservative does nothing to help Joe the manufacturing worker feel secure in his job future. Hey GOP hopefuls, Rudy Giuliani, Mitt Romney, Fred Thompson and John McCain how about telling us how you will make America a bigger exporter than importer.
How about telling us how you will turn our federal deficit back into a surplus once again. Taking time to criticize Democratic front-runner Sen. Hillary Clinton of New York shows me only that you have no ideas of how to improve the United States. Remember, you do not get ahead by putting someone else behind and so the thin veil of the Republican party has been revealed and they need to come up with some meat and potatoes to their political stew.
Mind you, I am not that happy with the Democratic rhetoric of being more worldly and global helpers, this is just more of the same BS of ignoring Americas own problems. However, at least the Democrats talk about saving and creating real domestic jobs in America. See here is the real political trick. Democrats talk about saving American jobs in the domestic United States and Republicans only talk about American businesses.
Well what good is an American business if it is only headquartered here in America but the work is done in South America or Central Asia? You need to hold your politicians accountable now more than ever or else your future and your children’s future will be lobbied away. Consider these highlights I will discuss in my next paragraph below about the recent Republican debate.
An aggressive Fred Thompson compared former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani’s social positions with Hillary Clintons and implied that former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney was at one time more liberal than Massachusetts Senator Ted Kennedy.
Giuliani remarked about Fred Thompson by stating he has his problems too. Giuliani stated, “Fred was the single biggest obstacle to tort reform in the United States Senate. He stood with Democrats over and over again. Fred Thompson, along with very few Republicans, blocked tort reform over and over and over again. That is not a conservative position.” Giulliani was asked if there was little difference between himself and Clinton on social issues, to which he replied, “You have got to be kidding.”
Now enter Senator John McCain of Arizona whom I once thought was above partisan rhetoric, Senator John McCain attacked candidate Romney for Romneys’ earlier statement of claiming to be the only real Republican in the field. McCain stated, “Governor Romney, you’ve been spending the last year trying to fool people about your record…I don’t want you to start fooling them about mine. I stand on my record. I stand on my record of a conservative, and I don’t think you can fool the American people. I think the first thing you’d need is their respect.” Fred Thompson then rejoined the attacking by going after former Mayor Giuliani by stating that Giuliani sides with Hillary Clinton on numerous issues.
At least the oft thought of former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee stayed above the fracas and fray. Just remember it’s your future you are voting for, not the funniest guy on the parochial school yard.
