What will your generations’ legacy be? Will it be the advent of the ideal that ‘not so bad news’ is ‘good news’? When we hear that first time jobless claims are down from 200,00 to 190,000 should we really celebrate? When we hear that the best month in Iraq saw only 20 soldiers deaths is that reason o rejoice, shouldn’t zero deaths be the only real celebratory number?
Take the recent foreclosure issue, the number of foreclosures across the country dropped in September, falling 8 percent from a 32-month high in August, but aren’t any foreclosures and in particular new ones a sign that something bad is going on? Just because there were a few less, there were still a lot so why aren’t we addressing the real problem behind foreclosures?
Why aren’t people saying there are foreclosures because so many people are losing their jobs and losing their living wages? Why do we accept bad news as semi-good news? When we will receive real really good news? When will someone tell us American exports outpaced imports? When will they say we created more jobs in America than we lost? And you do not have to listen to big business when they say the global market is here and we have to accept it, this is their way of holding the man down.
Company executives do not care if you make their buck or Hop-Jab, Spoonaraj, Mustafa, or Kwang-Chi makes it, they just want theirs and by them telling you to accept outsourcing, jobsourcing, and global environments is their way of holding down the middle and lower class. More companies and unions needs to follow the Big Three and walk out on strike to make sure they have contracts which protect their American jobs because if you don’t your so-called global company will just dismiss you away and if you don’t think they will then you are an idiot. It’s time we quit accepting bad news as good news and force our government and our economic leaders to work for the American citizens.
We hear a ton about what we are doing to secure Iraqi borders and yet policy makers in America say it is hopeless for us to think we can totally protect our own borders. How can this be? How can we protect Iraqs’ borders better than our own? And why should we protect Iraqs’ borders, are they a sovereign state in America I did not know about?
Our constitution protects us as Americans; we have no constitutional obligation to protect other countries. It’s time you demand more form your employers and your politicians; it’s time you become politically active and get involved in your own American future.
