Where Is The Humanity In This Modern World?

John jones stated, “Does it not disgust anyone that even though China repeatedly sells products that could potentially kill citizens idiotic businesses are immorally running over each other to get into bsuiness in China? Where has our humanity gone?” We msut also consider the devestating effect globalization has had on the average middle class worker throughout the world. Gary Chaison, who is a labor professor at Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts stated it best when he said, “This is the beginning of the end of the well-paid UAW workers and probably the well-paid manufacturing worker in America.” Add the scholared professors comments to the recent Labor Department report coming out of Washington which shows that the number of newly laid off workers filing claims for unemployment benefits shot up last week by the biggest amount in four months and you can see why many worry that the Bush Administration looks afar to often and not domestically enough. The Labor Department reported a total of 317,000 applications for unemployment benefits last week which is about an increase of approximately 16,000 from the previous week. It’s not just that we are not creating jobs but the jobs we currently have are being downgraded as well. Take the recent General Motors situation. It has been widely reported that GM has the right to shift a fourth of its union labor force to lower-paying jobs by 2011 under a tentative contract reached last week with the United Auto Workers. Recently, GM and the UAW agreed to label over 16,000 jobs as non-core positions which will allow the workers to be reclassified and receive about half the pay they are currently receiving. Reportedly the jobs won’t provide a full UAW pension or retiree health care. What political candidate will stop this race to the bottom? Who will turn us into growers rather than reduced or laid-off? Reportedly, Hillary Rodham Clinton has an almost 35 point lead over Barack Obama in polls. Obama is considered to be Clintons’ top opponent. Would Hillary change the fortune of America and its workers much like her husband Bill Clinton did? Former Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan has chimed up recently that a recession is a growing concern, should his words still be heeded? What are you doing to make sure America returns to a leadership roll? Are you politically active? Do you buy ‘Made in America’ products?

It’s time you make a change, make your opinion heard, make your voice heard. Regardless if you are a Democrat or a Republican you need to stand up for America or the day will come where you and your job will no longer be worhtwhile in America.
