President Bush Addresses The Nation

When considering President Bush addressing the nation about Iraq just ask yourself one question, ‘Are they becoming like us or are we becoming like them?’ They had no housing and no employment, domestic Americans are now becoming increasingly unemployed and many Americans are losing their homes. They had unreliable infrastructure and no money or funds to repair it. The United States has a failing infrastructure as witnessed by recent bridge and road failures and America is also short of money to repair its infrastructure. Iraq has terrorism and snipers and now we have them as pointed out by the Richmond shootings. In Richmond a sniper opened fire on a police patrol car, shattering its rear window as it pulled out of the city’s police headquarters. Doesn’t this sound just like Iraq? The shooting is the latest in an uncontrolled gang war exploding on the Bay Area city’s streets. In regards to he problem in Richmond Lieutenant. Mark Gagan stated “These are territorial groups that are fighting it out right now… they are shooting at people on the street corners to send out the message that no one in this district is safe… This is the kind of urban terrorism that these gangs are using to establish themselves.” Doesn’t this sound just like Iraq? As far as progression in Iraq, where is it? A key Sunni sheik that joined with U.S. coalition forces to fight al Qaeda militants in Iraq was assassinated Thursday by a roadside bomb. Is this the progress we are to see? Maybe it’s the fact that Iraqi politicians are on a month long vacation while American soldiers die, is that progress? Maybe they have learned to be fat and lazy, maybe that’s the progress being talked about. Real progress will come when the American President and the American Government turn its eye back to domestic America and address the problems in domestic America. We need help with the foreclosure issue, job creation, education, and health care. Most Americans are tired of paying taxes only to see these taxes go overseas. If Iraq wants to spend our tax dollars then let them pay our taxes as well, now that would be progress.
