Hurricane Dean made landfall on Mexico’s Yucatan coast Tuesday morning as a monster Category 5 storm which means it has the ability to inflict catastrophic damage. Early hurricane projections had the hurricane slamming into Texas and this caused the price of a gallon of gas to jump almost .25 cents in two days. The storm has swerved and the oil is safe. However, the gas stations have not reduced their prices and worse yet they actually profited from the whole hurricane scare. It did not cost them any more to manufacture or produce a gallon of oil or gas so their additional charge at the pump has resulted in additional profits for the gas stations and oil companies. In Mexico governors freeze the price of consumables to protect citizens from gouging, why is this not done here in America? Oil futures have pulled back dramatically but this still does not help out the average American citizen who got taken advantage of. We paid more and received no additional benefit, this is illegal in the business world so why is it allowed to go on? Because big business wants it to. Big business lobbyists control your politician and your politician avoids reasonable legislation to protect you. Remember these are the same idiots who allow all of your jobs to be outsourced to India and then approve the provision of nuclear energy to India so they can power up more and take more of your jobs. These are also the same idiots who let potentially deadly Chinese imports flow freely into your life and do very little to stop it, or to punish those who do cause lethal harm to American citizens and their families.
Debris is scattered in Kingston, Jamaica, on Monday after Hurricane Dean hit the area.
