The recent troop surge was supposed to change the tide of the Iraq war. However, the recent killing of over 500 Iraqi’s shows that the surge is not everything it was cracked up to be. The recent killing of the minority Kurds in the North is considered to be the deadliest attack on Iraqi’s since the Iraq war began. If the surge was meant to deter terrorism and sectarian violence then how and why did this occur? The War on Terror in Iraq has drained America to a point where now the American markets and economy are getting hammered. The economy has slipped out of control from the hands of the politicians we trusted with it and now the fiscal health of America as a whole is in jeopardy. Another gigantic sell-off on Wall Street once again reminded the paying attention Americans that our politicians need to focus on domestic America much more than they have been. They need to curb the outsourcing and unfair Chinese trade and let Iraq take care of itself for a minute. President Bush and the newly elected democratically controlled Congress are getting hammered in recent polls and the polls truly reflect a Government who has looked abroad for too long while ignoring the problems right under their noses. Where will it all go from here? When will a group of politicians stand up for domestic America and not the interest of outsourcing big business or ungrateful foreign countries?
