Toymaker Mattel is voluntarily recalling 9 million of its toys in the United States based on safety issues involving your children. A leading health official stated, “Lead is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health effects…Lead paint can cause vomiting, anemia and even neurological damage.” The toys being recalled include popular characters such as Batman, Barbie, Polly Pockets and a toy from Pixar’s “Cars” movie. The recall is happening because of hazards to American children brought on by the cheap and potentially irresponsible importing of cheap Chinese made products supplied because of outsourcing practices by American companies. Is this how low we have sunk as a species? We are willing to trade the health of our own children for the prospect of a few pennies more in profit? Is your eternal soul worth saving a dollar on each product made? Isn’t it better to build it safely here in America and know you will not face potential lawsuits on down the line? Also think about the cost of recalls, the bad publicity, and the cost of remanufacturing, it all adds up to make outsourcing a pretty bad deal doesn’t it? The recent toy recall was confirmed by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission Tuesday. Chinese deadly imports such as lead painted toys and leisure items, deadly toothpaste, and unsafe farm fed fish are all just the tip of the iceberg as many now see that China may be nothing more than a potential litigation move when you consider the potential of slave labor fabrication and unskilled manufacturing. It seems like America has done nothing in the past six years but make imports deadly and illegal aliens even deadlier as the Newark School children murders illustrate. Just what is going on here in America? When will a leader step up and help America reclaim its greatness and end all of the outsourcing and importing as well as all of the illegal immigration? Who will save us?
Before you go bashing President Bush remember it was under President Clinton that the U.S. normalized trade relations with China and since this time Americans have lost their jobs and paid the price for receiving dangerous Chinese imports. .Democratic presidential contender Barack Obama recently stated, “the center of gravity in this world is shifting to Asia…China is rising and it’s not going away…They’re neither our enemy nor our friend. They’re competitors.” They want your jobs as bad as they want to breathe and they will cut costs in any way they can and they have no problem selling your children potentially deadly items because they know the repercussions will not reach them based on public relations work done by outsourcing American companies. However, we must ask ourselves, at what price are we willing to go to squeeze a little more profit?
Many say that superheated China is failing to live up to its responsibility as an emerging global superpower. At least Obama was man enough to say, “We’ve got to have a president in the White House who’s negotiating to make sure that we’re looking after American workers. That means enforcing our trade agreements. It means that if they’re manipulating their currency, that we take them to the mat on this issue.”
I agree that one must look at the quality of the product and not have cost as the main reason to purchase a particular product. I am proud to say that at http://www.EarthTurns.com we have always taken the stand that all nutritional supplements, hair care or skin care products, will ALWAYS be made in Amercia.
Thanks for doing a great job promoting the importance of buying products that are made in the USA.
We as a nation have gotten lasy and grumpy. We complain but never do anything about it. We complain about gas but still drive SUVs.We complain about toys from china but won’t tell our children NO we won’t buy those ugly brat dolls. The last time I checked we have more of the small man over here then we do of the big guys. If we all just refuseed to go along with gas prices and inflation by car pooling and buying hand made crafts from our local craftsmen maybe we would be heard louder. I do try to buy as much as MADE IN AMERICA products as I can find, even if it cost a lit bit more. I ride with my husband to work. I challage everyone that has complained about any of these things to do what you can to have your voice heard. Because maybe the next job that moves to the cheapest country they can find might be yours!
I did find the third argument please email it to me immediately, or show me in class tommorow before class begins.
