Gas Gouging At Any Level Is Illegal And Immoral

Why do we still get jacked by the gas stations whenever there is a whisper in the wind in regards to oil and oil supplies? There was only a threat of a strike in some foreign oil producing country, not a strike but a threat, and oil prices jumped dramatically and so did our pay at the pump prices. However, controversy and shortage have already been built into the price of a barrel of oil because the price jumped from the 20’s to the 40’s and 50’s based on disruption. Now that those old problems have gone away the price should fall rapidly and for sure it should not climb any further. American citizens are tired of being raped at the pumps because of oil traders and gas gouging gas stations, this is ridiculous and Americans demand to be protected from unfair price inflation and gas gouging. The price rises quickly and falls slowly and the actual price only reflects tragedy and not the resolution of the tragedy. If the price rises on concerns it should fall when the concerns have been alleviated. However, this is not exactly the case and oil traders are raping us for millions. How about placing an extra tax like a luxury tax on profits made by oil companies and oil traders, lets see then how manipulative these crooks act. If we take away their incentive to rib us then maybe we will once again see a fair price on a gallon of gas. I also hope the Bush Administration remembers that high gas prices are the first stages of a recession. They need to get this oil BS under control and protect American citizens from unfair business practices.

It does not cost an oil company one penny more to pump a gallon of oil today than it did five years ago, there is also not a shortage as the oil mongers would have you believe. The only reason Americans get gouged at the pumps is because there is no built in protection for the gas consumer like there is for other consumer products. We as Americans must demand that our Government take action and enable legislation which protects and stabilizes America’s energy needs and prices.

How many of us see a gas station at $2.95 in the morning, $3.25 by the middle of the afternoon, and $3.19 by the end of the day? They jack us on early oil pumping news, then when other gas stations don’t pile on they reduce their prices slightly, this is illegal and immoral and needs to be addressed and not just when prices are real high, and they need to be addressed when prices are low as well.

When gas prices jack up so do the rest of our consumer goods and we cannot afford this. It is hard enough to be competitive in the world; we do not need rising energy prices to hamper Americans as well.

It’s time we quit giving oil companies and oil traders the ability to basically print money, they need to be responsible to their customers just like us.
