Iran and Pakistan have united in saying that Britain’s award of knighthood to author Salman Rushdie is an affront to Muslim sentiments, and an Islamic Cabinet minister in Pakistan recently stated that the honor provided a justification for suicide attacks. How can fundamentalist leaders expect their opinions to matter when they turn the other way in regards to Muslim rape squads in Darfur, death squads in Iraq, human children shields in Afghanistan, racist oppression in Iran, religious oppression in Saudi Arabia, and outright hate crime throughout the Middle East? Those in glass houses cannot throw stones and expect to have all of their glass windows in tact. Salman Rushdie whether you agree with him or not merely used words; Radical Islam uses hate and destruction via bully tactics and terrorism. Much of the world considers the attacks of September eleventh as the most spectacular Muslim event in the world. If death and destruction is your greatest recognition to the world then you have much bigger problems than some idiotic journalist running around talking about his views on religion. It’s time moderate Muslims take their responsibility for allowing racism, terrorism, and oppression to occur throughout their religion. They cannot allow the promotion of suicide attacks and racist oppression and then sound holier than thou in regards to a stupid little book. They can’t have their Falafel and eat it to.
Hard-line Muslim students burned effigies of Queen Elizabeth and Salman Rushdie in various Muslim countries and in some areas you could hear the chants, “Kill him! Kill Rushdie!” Freedom of speech is great but is should go both ways. However, when you promote hate and violence your words of justice will most likely fall on deaf ears, even among your own people so must have just tuned these useless chants out. Not all Muslims want hate and oppressions but the problem is that the moderate Muslims are afraid of the Hard- Line Extremists and this is where the problem occurs. True Muslims need a world cleansing of their religion and they need to rid their selves of the Muslims who utilize Islam as a political tool through religious manipulation.
Salman Rushdie is the author of “The Satanic Verses.” The book riled Muslim sentiment because it was one of the first to actually address the issues involved with Islam and how many use Islam to oppress.
You would think stupidity and racism have their limits but idiotic remarks where heard from various Islamic political leaders on the knighthood of Salman Rushdie. One of the more prominent idiots is a lawmaker in Pakistan’s lower house of Parliament. The parliament recently passed a resolution proposed by the Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Sher Afgan Khan Niazi, who referred to Salman Rushdie a “ blasphemer.” The idiot went on to state, “The West is accusing Muslims of extremism and terrorism. If someone exploded a bomb on his body he would be right to do so unless the British government apologizes and withdraws the ’sir’ title…If Muslims do not unite, the situation will get worse and Salman Rushdie may get a seat in the British parliament.” Talk about irresponsibility. This idiot is a part of a national government and he is inciting racism and hatred like this, what a joke.
It’s time Muslims look at the actions of their Muslim brothers before they speak out about a stupid book that is irrelevant to most. Actions speak louder than words and Radical Islam is speaking pretty loudly and pretty badly for Muslims everywhere.
