President Bush State of The Union Address

It appears that the Salvation Army is getting as much work as the Military Army and this has to change, we need economic prowess in America and not more rhetoric about military power in Iraq. President Bush can talk all he wants about the war in Iraq and the war in Afghanistan but in reality we are stuck in the mud in both of these countries while our own domestic problems in America are growing and growing.

How many of you have had to worry about your job in the past 6 months? How many of you know someone who has lost their job in the past 6 months? Thousands of Americans are losing their jobs daily while states like Michigan have to consider tax raises just to make it by. I must wonder why should Michiganders pay taxes and have the money sent to Iraq while they suffer through a budget deficit. I understand the difference between federal and state taxes but is not helping out our country what all of this is really about? To hear on and on about foreign countries and foreign democracy is ridiculous when American citizens are going without civil services and basic education.

Why should the American State of the Union be more about foreign countries than domestic America? I thought it was the state of America not the state of the world. All this hype and hoopla is nothing more than a rah-rah speech for a President chasing a pipe dream. It’s time we put the focus back on Americans and the American issues we need to solve domestically. How dare a President talk about global warming when he says out of the other side of his mouth that globalization is great? Can’t he understand that it is the globalization of manufacturing that is contributing so widely to global warming? Lets destroy the world so cheap labor can be exploited everywhere.

Furthermore, rebuilding schools in Iraq is fine but it should not be done at the expense of American children’s’ education. Also, rebuilding Afghanistan infrastructure is fine but not at the expense of rebuilding American highways. We give so much in taxes that it is appalling how the current Administration just gives it away to foreign countries while making Americans go without. Thousands of Americans are losing their jobs daily and we do nothing to stop the slippery slope of exiting jobs. Maybe if we spent some tax money on policies that encouraged technology and research here in America we could generate a little more revenue and a little more hope for the future. Why not take some of our hard earned tax dollars and invest it in domestic America? You deserve it and so do I.

Make no mistake, the new war is not a cold war it is an economic war. Those with economic clout have the power and those that don’t will not survive as they previously have. When jobs are lost they are not necessarily replaced as they were in the past so it is imperative we try and stop losing jobs in America. We must also work on creating new jobs.

Lastly, the President needs to challenge American parents more than he has. Our parents need to get our kids off of I-Pods and Video Games and back into the schoolbooks. I don’t want to sound like a Fuddy-Duddy but it’s the truth and even more importantly it’s the way of the modern world. If we do not keep our children on the cutting edge of technology and math and science they will be left behind to become the third world citizens of the world. You can say it won’t happen but who ever thought Toyota would be the second leading car seller in America? Never say never. Parents need to step up and this needs to happen immediately. Sorry fellas, you can’t put this one on President Bush its all on you.

In short we need more domestic job creation, better use of tax funds right here in America, and a renewed focus on education in America. If we are to thrive we must at least survive and the current trends in America show that most American citizens are barely surviving. The world is a tough place nowadays, its not your mom and dads oyster. We have to go out and get ours so make sure you start by getting yours. Take care of business and make sure your elected politicians do as well. President Bush can talk all he wants about Ethanol, No Child Left Behind, and Health Care but we need his domestic actions not just his words and promises.
