President Bush Cannot Win The Iraq War Because Of These Reasons

First of all, let me preempt this by stating that we can win the physical war in Iraq but as far as the war of ideologies in Iraq it is an un-winnable situation in regards to the Sunni Shiite hostilities. The Sunni Shiite fighting has been occurring in the Middle East for hundreds of years, we will not solve it with more troops in Iraq. Let me also remind America that the terrorists did not bring this war to Iraq because it was already there before America invaded, and it is everywhere else in the Middle East where Sunni’s and Shiites have been fighting for hundreds of years. The issue is ten times more complicated than the Arab-Israeli conflict and the fact we do not understand it is why we will never resolve it. The Shiites believed it was their legacy to control Islam after Mohammeds’ death, the Sunni’s believed it was their right; the ensuing power struggle has caused wars for years. The President cannot sell America on this idea anymore because it is a fact based on misinterpretations of the true Shiite Sunni issue. Here is why we will never win this war if we base it on resolving Shiite Sunni differences. Please read this carefully and share this with your friends, the truth needs to be known so we can actually judge this war fairly and make much more informed decisions.

Sunni Muslims believe that the first four caliphs who were Mohammeds’ successors rightfully took his place as the leaders of Islam. Conversely, Shiites of Mohammeds’ time believed that only the heirs of the fourth caliph, Ali, are the legitimate successors of Mohammed. You then have the issue of the Mahdi, who is like a Jesus figure in the Muslim religion. The Shiite’s believe the Mahdi has already been to the Earth while the Sunni’s believe he has yet to emerge. The Mahdi is referred to as the ‘rightly-guided one.’ Lastly one branch of Islam reveres its religious hero’s as saints while the other branch considers the saints a blasphemous symbol disrespecting God himself. These are just the basic differences; now try to understand the whole situation and you will see that it’s obvious we will not settle decades of warring in a few years with a few thousand more troops. The President needs to quit focusing so much on the Middle East and move on with his life and Presidency.

The President continues to address America about the issues in Iraq but many are starting to believe that the President has become tunnel-visioned onto Iraq and he needs to have a Congressional intervention in order to save his Presidency and the integrity of America. Many point out that President Bush originally sent our troops into Iraq to search for WMD’s and this was accomplished. The President then said the troops need to stay until Saddam Hussein was captured; he has been captured and killed. The President then said we need to stay until democratic elections are held; these elections came and went just as requested. We have met all of the milestones set up for troop returns and our exit out of Iraq and yet we continue to keep troops in Iraq, why? Why is the President so focused on Iraq and not domestic America? Can anyone recall the last time President Bush addressed the nation and did not discuss Iraq or Afghanistan? Why is this President so focused on Iraq and Afghanistan? He is like the kid with his tongue frozen to the steel pole; he just can’t get separation from the pole that is the Middle East. The President tries to make a good argument for more troops and more money in Iraq but America is just not buying it anymore.

We will not be the ones failing in Iraq, Iraqi’s are failing in Iraq. The Shiite Sunni issue was prevalent in the Middle East for hundreds of years and it will go on for hundreds and maybe hundreds more. There is no need to waste further American life and resources for a war that at its basic core is un-winnable. We can win the physical fight but the religious Muslim war will go on for much longer.
