Who hung Saddam should not be as suspenseful as who shot J.R. but in all reality it may be harder to ascertain who actually hung Saddam than you know. Here is the video of the Saddam hanging, judge for your self. Islamic law states that Muslims should not be executed on religious dates. However, the Shiite Government in Iraq disobeyed this order and had Saddam executed on the morning of a very hallowed Islamic holiday.
Many felt that Iran, and the Iranian controlled Shiites in Iraq, did not want Saddam to live to see the holiday rather they wanted to deny him the opportunity to pray during the religious holiday. U.S. officials tried to delay last week’s execution of Saddam Hussein, fearing it would fuel perceptions the death of the former Iraqi dictator was more about Shiite retribution and less about justice but the Shiia contingent in Iraq was much more interested in their own selfish desires than that of the countries.
The request by American officials fell on deaf ears as Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki, a Shiite, was determined to put Hussein to death before the beginning of the Eid al-Adha holiday. The death was not certified by Iraqi president Jalal Talabani, a Sunni Kurd. Add all of this with the Iranian comments of how they will assure America is embarrassed I nthe Middle East and their puppet leader Muqtadr al-Sadr and you can see that Saddam was basically killed vigilante style in what we are to perceive is a civilized country with a supposed civil government. However, the signing and dancing around a dead leaders’ hanging body makes me think this is nothing more than a racist shootout out the new O.K. Corral.
American fears were proved true as an amateur recording of Hussein’s last moments has now been broadcast for the world to see. Saddam deserved the death penalty but he did not deserve his last minutes to be in such a despicable fashion. Rather than rise above the disgusting human they were executing, the Shiia gathered at the Saddam execution sunk below his level. They displayed an inhuman aura as they celebrated Saddams hanging. I understand their gladness at the fact Saddam has been removed from power and this Earth. However, I understand civilized behavior and this disgusting display leads me to believe that the ones assuming power in Iraq are no better than the ones just removed from power in Iraq.
Reportedly the United States requested a delay of two weeks before the Saddam execution but Prime Minister Al-Maliki and his aides rejected that request by citing security concerns. At least the American Government was smart enough to protect their own asses by requesting a written document declaring that the execution was legal under the Iraqi constitution. The document was supposed to be signed by Iraqi president Jalal Talabani, but he did not sign the document. Reportedly there was a phone conversation between al-Maliki and the president which resulted in the conclusion that Talabani’s signature was not needed to make the execution document official; no explanation for the conclusion has been given.
The official government released video of the Saddam Hussein execution was released without sound and ends when the hangman’s noose is put around Saddam Hussein’s neck. However, a cell-phone video was snuck from the execution which goes much further into the event by actually detailing bitter exchanges between Hussein and his Shiite guards. The cell phone video also shows that Saddam Hussein offers prayers just before his death while the guards around him shout praise for Muqtada al-Sadr, the radical Shiite cleric whose father was reportedly murdered by the Hussein’s regime. The gurds are shown chanting “Muqtada! Muqtada! Muqtada!” Other tunts were thropwn at Saddam until at
6:00 A.M. the trapdoor opens and Saddam is hung. Reportedly after then hanging the Shiia attendants are again displayed in a dancing singing celebratory state. This does not sound official or very professional, it sounds much more racist and inhumane.
Just what type of Government are we actually trying to prop up in Iraq? Are they just as bad as Saddam was? How much influence does Iran really wield in Iraq? These are answers we need to know.
You are talking about countries that can make a bomb, strap it to their grandmother’s chest, and go blow up a cafe and its occupants…yet this same country doesn’t even have the technology to make a bicycle. Need I say more…what would they be without imports and oil… an isolated, backwards desert wasteland!
