According to the latest report being bandied about in Washington, Murders and Robberies continued to rise across the United States during the first six months of 2006. The report was based on preliminary FBI data which showed statistics indicating that crime is on the rise again in America. Many blame the rise in crime on illegal immigrants, others on unemployment, and still others on funds being funneled from American Law Enforcement into the Iraq War. Regardless of which choice you believe it all points back to one issue, our Government Leadership. The latest report from the Pentagon said that crime is on the rise in Iraq because of unemployment and not enough security forces, does this situation sound familiar. How can any honest American say we have to fix Iraq without first saying, “Wait a Minute, this is happening right here, who is gonna resolve this in America?” How can America be allowed to fall into disarray while the American Government resolves the same issues for a foreign country. Are Iraqi’s worth more than American’s? All things considered we are the same so there should be no problem with American taxpayer dollars being spent on Americans before the monies are spent on the same situation in a foreign country. This is one issue you should not ignore; instead you should share this with your friends and encourage them to be active and vocal. Your one opinion and one voice can make a difference so use it.
Reportedly violent crime figures rose for a second straight year. Gene Voegtlin who is associated with the International Association of Chiefs of Police stated, “This is a concern we’ve been focused on…A lot of agencies are really stretched thin when it comes to the budget and their ability to aggressively combat crime.” If this is the case then why should we be funding crime fighting in Iraq at the expense of Americans? We pay taxes for our own protection, not a foreign countries.
President Bush has hammered Congress and the Senate for more and more money the past few months but when it comes to domestic American crime-fighting grants and assistance programs President Bush is actually agreeing to reductions. How can he beg for more money for Iraq while at the same time cutting spending for America, this is ridiculous? I heard a U of M student say that, “Maybe President Bush should run for office in Iraq when his term is up next election, it appears he is much more concerned with the Iraqi country than his own.” At the time I laughed at the statement but now I fel it is almost warranted.
Justice spokesman Brian Roehrkasse stated, “we are again concerned about the increase in violent crime in some cities and towns.” I think its time we pay attention to people like Brian Roehrkasse before we become the new Middle East of the World.
