It’s Time Americans Quit Surviving And Start Thriving

President Bush said Americans need to be educated to attain work in the modern economy. Maybe someone like President Bush needs to spend 5 days in Michigan. Recently Ann Arbor was named one of the top three smartest cities in America, for whatever that is worth. However, U of M graduates are finding a tough time in the Michigan job market. If brains equal jobs then why aren’t Ann Arbor graduates being deluged with offers and opportunities? President Bush goes on and on about creating jobs in Asia, the Middle East, and even Africa but he never mentions his domestic problems in states like Alaska and Michigan.

Sure its easy to create jobs in slave labor third world countries but we need jobs created right here at home, in America. We have listened to the rhetoric, we have followed the directions, and now where are the high paying, or at least decent paying, jobs? We have kept up our end of the bargain where are the results? Americans are doing all they can to hold on to what they can and most still feel they are just barely keeping their heads above water, what gives? Who has the answers we need? When is the last time you individually went a week without thinking your job may be in jeopardy? It’s time we get on with the business of getting on. It’s time we Americans begin to thrive rather than just survive. The past elections gave us the turnover we supposedly wanted now lets see what gets done domestically. Who will make America more competitive? Who will reward the newly educated Americans?

It appears that while Americans are studying their asses off at home and trying to get the best education they can afford our government is embroiled in overseas diplomacy that keeps them from addressing domestic economic issues. We have taken our eye off of our own ball while we continuously focus on Iraq and North Korea. It’s ridiculous that Americas’ infrastructure and construction is stagnant while the rest of the world moves ahead. It’s time we focus on American workers and students and leave the rest of the world to fend for itself for a year or two. Why should we spend so much time and energy on North Korea when we are at the same point we were at five years ago and nothing has been gained or resolved. We could have spent this time and resources on American education and been much better off at this point. In regards to Iraq, we could have spent the war in Iraq money on Americans and all of us would have had the opportunity for a free four year college education as well as another 70 thousand in our bank accounts. Which do you think would be the better course of action in regards to how the war money was spent utilizing hindsight?

Reportedly North Korea and the United States stood miles apart this week as discussions on resolving the communist state’s nuclear arms issue resumed after a year of almost no discussion or talk. I say its time to just move on from these idiots, leave them under sanctions or move them forward with military action, either way its time to focus on Americans in need and not all of the idiots who cannot run their own country. If they cannot run a civilized country in these modern times there is much more going on wrong than just a nuclear issue. The same goes for the cave-man Neanderthal type idiots known as insurgents in Iraq. Why should American lives and dollars pay a country who allows the al-Sadr idiots the ability to control power from a puppet type regime? Al-Sadr commands more power and respect in Iraq than any Iraqi politician and yet all we do is dance around this guy, and if you have seen this guy you would know it’s a long costly dance because he has a love handle to Jihad for. We need to either squash the problem once and for all or just get out, this half pregnant Iraqi policy is costing Americans way to dearly. This money would be much better spent upgrading our schools and civil service.

Actually this happens a lot when people devote a lot of time making themselves educated, but not so much time making themselves marketable.
