Do We Trust Our Fellow Americans?

Who can we trust? We trusted our politicians when they said Iraq had weapons of mass destruction and look what happened. We trusted our American business leaders and now they outsource our work and steal our benefits faster than we can blink. We cannot even trust our neighbors to snub imports from China and India because they would rather have cheaper goods than help protect their own American jobs. With so much disloyalty and dishonesty where do we turn? What can be done to reverse the trend of self-destruction currently running rampant throughout America? First things first, we need accountability once again in America, we do not need election year accountability, we need good honest American leadership and it starts with you and me and goes up from there. Some things are said to run downhill but I for one am not ready to stand their and get poured on any longer. It’s time you and I and all the rest of America take responsibility and demand accountability. If we get accountability we can save the American dream and rather than live in a world where each day we worry about our next paycheck we can go back to dreaming about or summer vacations and our retirement plans.

To begin with, we need real accountability in Iraq. We must eliminate the open-ended bottomless checkbook our current Government manages the Iraq war with. Americans pay their taxes to support America, when did this become a charitable fund? Give to UNICEF if you want to help the world, keep our tax dollars here in domestic America. Furthermore, if the Iraqi government does not want to reel in the Shiite militias then let them deal with their own issues, we cannot help them if they will not help themselves. We have decimated their military, removed their dictator, set up elections, created security forces, and gave billions for restoration, what more do we have to do. It’s time to get this done or just close it down, this policy cannot last forever.

Next we have corporate America. How much longer can Americans make concessions for companies who just turn around and outsource American jobs? We must also consider companies like Ford motors who is now under SEC investigation. Ford cuts benefits, lays off thousands, and says they need more concessions because of their financial position. Then you find out they have 6 private jets for personal use for their executives. Then we find out they are going to restate their earnings and there could be an almost billion dollar revenue recognition. How can American companies like Ford Motors treat, or should we say betray, Americans like this and then tell us to ‘Buy American’? Could someone tell them we demand honesty, and also tell them that if they pay us to build it we can afford to buy it, if they keep laying us off then how can we support their product?

Lastly, we must look at ourselves. We all know individuals who are getting creamed by outsourcing; they have lost their jobs because of salve labor made manufactured goods. We demand our Government protect our jobs at home yet we turn right around and buy numerous items with labels saying ‘Made in China’ or ‘Made in India’. Maybe we need to make sure we buy items with labels stating ‘American Made’ or ‘Made in America.’

It’s not to late to save our American future we just have to be a little more accountable to ourselves and then demand it from our Government and corporate leadership.
