China Betrays Mans’ Best Friend As Well

Imagine you are told to register with the proper authorities and you do. Then imagine the registration list you signed up on is used to hunt and track you down so that you can then be beaten to death, how does this sound? Does it remind you a little of Nazi Germany? Well if you lived in a certain country you would have to register your dog on such a list and he would be the one authorities would come looking for in the aforementioned situation I just described.

The list is real and the beatings are even more real. Now imagine you are playing with your children in the front yard and the family dog jumps out to join in the fun isn’t this a great time? Then suddenly out of nowhere comes two police officers with batons drawn who push you and your child to the ground while they begin to senselessly beat your dog to death right in front of you. Your dog looks at you and wonders why it has been betrayed just before it expires. Would you want to live in this type of country with this type of government? Would you befriend such people as these government types? This is not old Nazi Germany I have just described it is modern day China and you should think about the country before buying an item which says ‘Made in China.’ Man’s best friend may be being betrayed in China but you do not have to betray man’s best friend here in America.

What China does not want you to see.

The Year of the Dog in China is not what our four legged friends expected, rather than bring good tidings the year of the dog in China has brought about beatings and inhumane treatment for mans best friend. Where has the civility in China gone? Next time you buy a product that says ‘Made in China’ I want you to remember you are supporting a country whose government supports the destruction of any dog found walking around anywhere in China or any dog considered a large breed dog even if it is in a family home. Imagine your dog accidentally bolts out the door or jumps the fence and two minutes later your best friend is being beaten to death by baton strikes and slapjack clubbings.

It is one thing to have a dog catcher and a humane animal policy, its another to have police officers come up to strays and large breed dogs and offer to pet them and then immediately proceed to beat them to death. The official Chinese news source the Xinhua News stated that China is enacting a one family one dog policy but they say that the Chinese government is not sanctioning the inhumane destruction of dogs. However, numerous reports from Chinese citizens say differently and the question is, “Why does China get away with such policies and yet never do they get ostracized in public, why?” Where is Peta to speak out, where is Pamela Anderson, Rikki Lake, etc…If this was in America there would be an outrage but because it goes on in China no one bats an eye, what is going on here? How can China perform so many outrageous actions with no repercussions? Where are the protests, where are the demonstrators, where are the boycotts?

China has officially said they are enacting their one family one dog policy to address the recent outbreaks of rabies China has experienced in and around Beijing. However, what they are not detailing is their inhumane beatings of the dogs in order to immediately end the dogs’ life. Many say China has resorted to the beatings because immunizing so many dogs would not be cost effective for China. I understand that it is only a dog but it is a living breathing animal with feelings and emotions, how can the Chinese government justify the horrendous way it destroys the animal. Reportedly tens of thousands of dogs were killed this summer to address the rabies issue and many more have been innocently slaughtered since. How can the world allow such actions to go on without calling attention to it? Has our greed in regards to China become more vital to us as humans than our conscious and our ability to treat all life fairly and humanely?

Before the policy change was enacted, dogs were an upstanding member of the Chinese community. Many people brought their beloved pets to hospitals, schools and hospice type homes so that the dog could spend therapeutic time with the sick, the elderly, and the children. However, now dog owners are outlawed from taking their dogs to public places like schools, hospitals, markets, parks, beeches, community gym zones, amusement parks, and sightseeing areas, according to Xinhua News.

Large domestic dogs are usually registered with the proper authorities as dictated by law. However, the Chinese Government is now using these registries to track down large registered dogs to destroy them. Large dogs are an easy target because the authorities know where to find them.
