President Bush Spreads Americas Legs Again For Unfair Trade Practices? What Is Going On Here?

Free trade with Vietnam? What is the President thinking? We have a 5 billion dollar trade deficit with Vietnam and now we are going to have them flooding us with cheap textiles based on free trade? What are we doing? How can the current administration spread for so many other countries? Why are we constantly opening ourselves up to more and more job losses by giving free trade agreements with countries who flood us with price dumping cheap imports and slave labor outsourcing? The current state of economic policy in America will have us at a distinct disadvantage if it is allowed to continue. How much more can we give up? This is rediculous.

President Bush is supposedly going to meet with executives from the Big Three Automakers on Tuesday, talk about being a day late and a dollar short. China, India, and Mexico are the three fastest growing economies and what do they all have in common? You guessed it, they are the three fastest growing manufacturing countries in the world. President Bush said that outsourcing was simply relieving Americans of jobs no one wanted to do anymore, that is the biggest bunch of hogwash I have ever heard from any elected official in the history of politics. Americans need manufacturing because a manufacturing base provides the economy we need to support our other growing areas such as technology, science, and medicine. China and India and Japan have trade laws in place designed to protect their manufacturing base, why doesn’t America enact the same policies? Its time to get in the game or get our doors blown off by foreign competition. I myself vote for getting in the game, its time President Bush work with the new Democratic Congress and Senate to enact legislation that makes outsourcing and importing less favorable while also rewarding companies who provide domestic job creation. Let’s get all Americans back to work, let’s make America the economic leader of the world once again.

China manipulates its own currency to assure it has a manufacturing advantage. China also only allows cooperative businesses in China, it will not allow a total foreign based company to perform work in China, they want a piece, even if it’s small, of the economic action. China, and Japan, also have quotas on imports. How can America open itself like a dime store hooker while the major competition adheres to unfair trade policies and quotas? Lets get real here, there is no way we can compete in a market place that is artificially manipulated. I hope the new Congress and Senate sees the unfair playing field America stands on and they move quickly to enforce legislation which makes domestic America more attractive to business and commerce.

President Bush and the Republicans adhere to their tax breaks as the great saviors of our economy. However, if we take this money and spend it on foreign imports then who are the tax breaks really a windfall for? Foreign companies are enjoying American tax breaks much more than America and when you consider many counties in America are now having to cut workforce and services we can see that the tax break money is not getting re-circulated in our country it is leaving the country via imports and outsourcing.

Let’s hope the President gets it together and makes America a great country once again. We need job creation and job stability and some new job growth would be nice as well. Lets hope the new Congress and Senate make America the manufacturing king of the world once again.

  1. Our commentary on this topic, “Time to use the big stick with China,” was just published today in WND at http://www.wnd.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=53455

We are hopeful that our commentary could eventually contribute to an effective American economic policy when dealing with countries that try to build up their industry at our expense.
