Democrats Are Not Feeling Blue After Election Day Festivities

If the 2004 election was a mandate for President Bush was the 2006 elections a show of frustration against President Bush? Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm stated that this years’ votes were votes of hope not votes of fear. Democrats gained numerous seats in the House and Senate and you can be rest assured that policy in regards to Iraq and the current state of outsourcing will be addressed in Washington. Now don’t get too comfortable Democrats, we must remember it was a Democratic President and Congress which helped push through much of the policies that upheld free trade and promoted outsourcing and importing. Hopefully the new set of Democrats can rectify the problems created by their previous brethren. However, the rallying cry of most Democrats who won elections this year was that they would end the war in Iraq and they would help stem outsourcing losses in America. Let’s watch what they do and see if they keep their word. They must remember, we are less than two years away from electing a new President and we will keep our eyes on how the Democrats keep their word.

Democratic candidates throughout America repeatedly stated their affection and dedication to the middle-class of America. Most Democrats focused their attention on this demographic of voters and they say they plan on dedicating their terms to making the middle-class the once again proud backbone of a resurgent America. Senator Debbie Stabenow of Michigan stated she intends on leading Michigan and America in a race to the top rather than allowing corporations to force us into a race to the bottom. Democrats have promised to address the trade deficit as well as enact legislation that makes domestic investment by corporations a more attractive situation. Democrats have vowed to reward companies who keep and create jobs in America while also enacting legislation which makes outsourcing less advantageous to American companies doing business in domestic America. This policy of building it and buying it is very appealing to America and most cannot wait to see what the new Congress and Senate will do to make this a reality.

Senator Barak Obama stated that the election results throughout all of the electoral races show that America is not happy with President Bush and his fellow Republicans. He stated that regardless of the numbers that played out it is obvious America wants a change moving forward. Many other Democrats stated the same rhetoric, they advised that the 2006 election turned out to be a demonstration of frustration with President Bush and the Republican party. They advised that America feels betrayed by its own politicians and they want a change. They say that Americans want to feel safer about their jobs and their children’s future.

What will the next 2 years hold? It will be interesting. Will Hillary Clinton abandon her Senate seat for a run at the Presidency? Will the Democrats stem outsourcing and help rebuild domestic American business? What will we do in Afghanistan? Will America get a renewed round of support for education in America? Will Washington have a renewed force trying to get America out of the war in Iraq? These are all important issues we hope will have a positive ending for America and in some instances a positive beginning.
