Bush Changes Pre-Election Message

President Bush reportedly will switch his pre-election rhetoric to the economy from the war on terror and rebuilding efforts in Iraq rhetoric he has been recenting regurgitating. The reason for his change has been the recent polls which show that most Americans care more about the economy than they do about Iraq. However, is the effort to switch topics disingenuous or is it a real change of heart/ Most say the change is a way to remind voters of the positives of President Bush and the Republican politicians in office and not a true change in focus by the President or the Republican controlled Senate and Congress. The change is simple politicking; the President gets higher marks for handling the economy than he does for running the Iraq war so the President is out trying to convince voters Republicans are the best politicians to manage your wallet for the next four years.

Bush advisers have repeatedly stated that they want the president to get more credit for the recent positive economic news and economic trends. However, Democrats are quick to point out that our Trade Deficit is increasing second only to our National Debt; they believe President Bush and the economy are basically running on borrowed time and eventually the curtain will be pulled back to reveal a devastating mess. However, this could also be more partisan rhetoric and without delving deep into the numbers it is hard to get a grasp.

Over 75% of registered voters have stated that the economy is an important issue, this total dwarfs the percentage of people concerned about progress in Iraq right now. Is th Bush change in pre-election rhetoric enough to make you change your mind in regards to your vote or do you want more bang for your vote?
