CSI Baghdad, Law & Order Fallujah, Special Victims Unit Sadr City, all of these would be prime time shows. These police forces have crime, corruption, racism, and criminal element, and we are just talking about the police. Imagine the crime they would investigate once they stopped committing their own crimes. The Iraqi government recently removed two of Iraqs’ senior police commanders from their positions Tuesday based on their inability to stop crime and corruption within the Iraqi police agencies. We keep hearing how good it is but in reality it is like the Wild West in Iraq with the addition of racism added to the mix. If this is a winning policy then I would hate to have seen the ideas that did not make the cut.
Reportedly the two generals relieved of duty commanded Iraq’s special police commandos and the Iraqi public order brigade. The problem is that both forces are rumored to be heavily infiltrated by Shiite militias which are actually carrying out kidnappings, mutilations, and murders while posing as upstanding police officers. If you cannot trust police officers then who can you trust? Is it an honest operation or just an other breeding ground for militias and death squads that operate within the police ranks?
It is an almost unfeasible task to weed out the militias influence from the police forces because the Shiite racism for Sunni’s runs deep in Iraqi society. We must also consider that the al Sadr militia is also present in the guard forces in and around Iraq. Reportedly Shiite militia operate as body guards for numerous Iraqi politicians, they also stand guard at the doors of mosques and college campuses. How and why this is allowed is ridiculous.
We must eliminate the al Sadr militia, squash the Iranian influence, and turn control of Iraq over to Iraqi’s. This is how we will eliminate this problem and get Iraq straightened out once and for all.
