President Bush Wonders About Child Violence

What parent would leave their five children alone in the world to starve and go on to feed someone else’s? That is what we have done and are doing. President Bush wonders why children are resorting to violence, extreme violence in some cases. He also wonders about the safety of children in school. Well the President does not have to wonder for long, there is one simple answer to his question about the rise in school violence, “Domestic Policies.” Each time we cut social programs, cut teachers pay, eliminate sports programs, or cut out after school programs, we are abandoning our children. As we pour billions into Iraq and Afghanistan w3e are failing our youth and as we fail to protect our domestic economy we are also failing our mothers and fathers and thus inadvertently we are again failing our youth. How much can a child handle when his mom and dad are struggling to keep food on the table. The worst part about the Presidents failures are that he is losing our children’s dreams. No longer do children grow up thinking about their dream job, they now just hope they get a job that is not outsourced.

Look at inner-city youth and you can see how our domestic policies are failing our children. Inner-city children play on baseball fields where the grass is as tall as the home run fence. Other children play hide and go seek in abandoned building which are empty because the jobs have been outsourced. Then you have the school cuts, these hammer our children and strip them of the ability to participate in after school programs. Without sports and band we are depriving our children of the chance to attain pride in accomplishments.

We are failing our children and that is why there is a rise in child violence. We think we need to pour money into Iraq and Afghanistan more than we need to teach and educate our children. We would rather build a parking lot in the middle of the desert than build a playground for our own youth. Our actions are despicable and now they are coming home to roost. We must turn our focus back on to America and quit trying to save the whole world. What parent would leave their five children alone in the world to starve and go on to feed someone else’s? That is what we have done and are doing. I think we need new politicians who will put America first and the rest of the world on the back burner.
