It appears Bob Woodward knows more about what’s going on in Washington than the politicians running the country in Washington. How many times have we found news out directly from Bob? It’s amazing how on he is and how quick he is when it comes to revealing Washington secrets.
In Bobs’ new book “State of Denial,” the Washington Post editor states that former White House chief of staff Andrew Card twice sought to persuade President Bush to fire Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld. Rummy never went anywhere but most believe Bob Woodward was the first to call out attention to this fiery issue. Bob is also on the Condi Rice tip by stating that Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice was advised that America was going to be attacked soon around 9/11 but she dismissed the urgent calls for action.
We must also remember Bob was involved in the Valerie Plame issue as well. These are just some of the well known issues this man has been involved in, there are numerous others as well. So with all this said, why is Bob Woodward becoming the most trusted man in Washington when half of the country hates this guy? What is going on here?
Bob was integral in breaking Watergate and now he has his sites set on the Bush Administration and their pretense for war in Iraq. Is Bob Woodward a necessary evil that keeps Washington honest or is he just a very busy paparazzi who enjoys nothing more than to be a part of the story himself?
There are arguments on both sides of the discussion but one thing we can all appreciate is this mans dedication to braving the threats and producing what many in power try to suppress, the truth. It may not always be what we want to hear but Bobs’ journalism is like bad medicine; you some times have to just take it and try to get better.
Maybe we need Bob to go to Iraq and give us the honest scoop in Iraq, and then maybe send him to Afghanistan and Iran. This man has a knack for getting the truth out there. You may not like his ways and mannerisms but his fact finding is second to none.
