Ford Confuses American Auto Workers

If we build it we can buy it, if we don’t we cant. It’s as simple as that. However, the same brain trust that has turned the Detroit Lions into late Night fodder has also ran a once proud American company right into the ground. As Ford tries to pound the ‘Buy American’ mantra down our throats it appears they are doing all they can to abandon America. Their Way Forward plan was not aggressive enough to satisfy Wall Street so instead of being loyal and fixing their problems they instead rushed out a plan to ax American workers. How many Vietnamese, Chinese, Mexican, or Indian employees do you think got buyout letter options Friday? You got that right, booyaah, none.

Conversely, Toyota and Honda are building numerous plants in America as well as selling cars and being profitable. Maybe the problem with Fords is its management and car design, not only their labor force. Don’t get me wrong, they have to adjust their labor costs but what they are doing is not really cost cutting. Instead they are headhunting and they are cannibalizing the American public so that they can then start fresh in another poor as dirt country. They have lost their competitive advantage and now it appears their only option is to whore out to cheap labor. However, just like IBM, Bank of America, and other businesses and manufacturers, they will find out that once you abandon American workers America soon abandons you.

Ford was still red-assed at the premature release of their ‘For Fords Eyes Only’ document a few months ago. During this time it was revealed that Fords would fire American workers and open plants in Mexico and South America. Once this was out, Fords began to lose talent, and why not? Who would stay when their fate has already been written out in a powerful presentation meant only for Ford higher ups? I am grateful for the Ford employee who actually made copies of the presentation and got it to the Oakland Press, he did the American workers a favor unlike Fords who was apparently planning and scheming to back door America and her workers all along.

Toyota, Honda, they build cars, Fords just wants you to buy their big SUV’s and trucks. Maybe Ford Motors can learn a lesson and change their business plan before its too late but the realist in me believes they have only their eye on the outsourcing buck and this is surely a plan destined to failure. I sure hope that the Mexican, and Indian workers save up their Peso and Rupe because if they want to keep building Ford vehicles they will have to buy them. If Ford continues to betray America then America will soon forget Ford.

I hope Ford makes a change and keeps American workers building and buying but if they don’t they better expect to sell even less vehicles, what comes around goes around.
