The children should be proud of themselves, corporate America should be ashamed of itself. Cowardly outsourcing CEO’s have advised that they have to outsource work because America is not educated enough. However, the recent trends have disputed this argument and the recent ACT scores by Americas’ youth have underscored that there is intelligence in America to do the technical jobs, now we need to see corporate America stand by their word and hire Americans. Let’s see if these cowards are not only spineless but liars as well. CNN recently reported that the high school class of 2006 posted the biggest score increase on the ACT college entrance exam in 20 years, and recorded the highest scores of any class since 1991. Now lets get them into college and out in the workforce where they should find willing and waiting employment in the American job market.
CNN news advised that the average composite scores on the ACT exam, which measures students’ readiness for college-level work, rose to 21.1 from 20.9 last year. Both boys and girls posted gains, as did all racial groups except Hispanics, whose scores held steady. ACT scores range from 1 to 36. Officials at the independent, nonprofit ACT said an increase of 0.2 points is significant when considered across a record 1.2 million test-takers nationwide, or 40 percent of graduating seniors. This information alone is reason enough to call on American politicians and corporate America and tell them that our proud parents and children have held up their end of the deal, they have educated themselves, now show them the reward. America has stood by American companies; now let’s see if American companies support America.
The increases in scores were not focused in one narrow area; the gains were very broadly based. I applaud children and their parents for dedicating themselves to education as corporate America asked, now I want to see the politicians put pressure on corporate America to keep up their end of the deal and actually provide the jobs they said we were not educated for, let’s see if they put their money where there mouth is.
