Stem Cell Debate Heats Up Again

The Stem Cell issue has once again heated up but President Bush has again made his position known and his feelings felt. The President feels that Stem Cell research may be the way of the future but Embryonic Stem Cell research will not be funded on his watch. President Bush has stood firm on his position in regards to the Embryonic Stem Cell issue and for this I applaud him. I am not really sure where I fall on this issue because I am unsure of the living status of the Embryonic Cells. Because I am unsure of the status I rely on my moral and religious beliefs, this may not be the right thing but it is how I deal with the issue. However, there are individuals far more educated than myself discussing the issue and I trust that they will address the issue properly in both moral and scientific ways.

There are good arguments both for and against the Stem Cell science. I feel most likely it is easy to stand on the supposed moral high ground if you are healthy and you and your family are not affected by a devastating illness or disease that could be cured by this research. However, if you happen to fall on the darker side of the debate then I feel your views differ and I totally understand the stance and concern. I do not judge nor make opinions of either supporters of either side of the debate. I understand their positions and I just pray the correct decisions get made. The only thing I want is to make sure both sides of the debate get a fair shake and that both sides are properly heard.

I don’t want the pro-lifers flaunting sickening signs and singing elongated songs because they have a different opinion. I understand their concern and I appreciate their passion. However, I do not appreciate them offending those who have different opinions. I believe in God and I try to follow a religious path but I do not condemn others for their various choices in life. I may disagree with them but I do not try to change their mind by condemnation or threat.

I hope the issue gets resolved and what is best for humanity gets approved but until then, lets all keep an open mind.
