Valerie Plame Seeks Truth, Justice, And The American Way, Or So She Says

Valerie Plame spoke out and advised that she would much rather be finishing her career as a public servant than as a complainant in a lawsuit. However, she believes she was outed by a political motivational factor that she feels betrays the national trust of America and she feels it is her duty to carry out the lawsuit as a way to make sure that the Government checks and balances are in place so that what happened to her does not cause detriment to the country.

Valerie feels her career and life were incorrectly and irreparably damaged so that the Bush Administration could carry on with its march toward war with Iraq. Valerie is the figurehead for those who feel President Bush manipulated the facts leading up to the War with Iraq. Is Plame a heroine or a victim? A saint or a sinner?

While discussing the lawsuit over the weekend Valerie Plame stated that she and her husband filed their lawsuit against Bush administration officials with heavy hearts while at the same time a feeling of a renewed sense of purpose. The question her case brings up is similar to the actions presented against Richard Nixon years ago, did an elected politician, or group of politicians, overstep their rights and utilize undue influence to gain persuasion in a decision making process they were involved in?

Valerie and her husband Joe Wilson filed a federal civil lawsuit last week over what they charge was a conspiracy by the Bush Administration to intentionally expose Valerie Plame’s classified CIA job to reporters in 2003 to punish her husband for questioning the Bush Administration’s justification for invading Iraq.

The federal lawsuit names numerous Washington officials in the Bush Administration, some of those named in the suit filed in U.S. District Court in Washington are Vice President Dick Cheney; former chief of staff, Lewis “Scooter” Libby; and Republican political strategist Karl Rove.

The War in Iraq has been costly and it has far reaching repercussions. The war is constantly being discussed and debated and there are numerous reasons for both supporters and detractors of the war. However, if it is found that individuals were acting in an illegal manner then historians of this current Presidency may have a larger story on their hands than they thought. The American taxpayers also deserve the truth one way or another after all it is their children, and their taxes, which have funded and supported this war.
