Soldiers Homeless At Home After Helping Rebuild Iraq

Once again the current politicians we have are neglecting their own citizens in favor of foreign countries and the potential for declaring a world success in a foreign reclamation project. While the Bush Administration highlights high points in Iraq it fails to point out how America is failing its own by not helping support returning soldiers from Iraq. Many returning soldiers are finding themselves jobless and homeless and American politicians are doing nothing to alleviate the situation.

This is the worst form of neglect we can enact on our brave men and women of the armed forces. How dare we send them off to war and then not support them when they return. The story I read turns my stomach and I hope the issue is resolved much sooner than later. We ask for their best, we deserve to give them our best. How can we rebuild Iraq and let the hero’s of this war go homeless in America? Is this how America is preparing itself for the new globalized world? If so, I want my small little corner of the world back, where Americans cared for each other and we looked out for our fellow Americans.

Numerous soldiers returning from two and three tours of duty in Iraq are experiencing the strange phenomenon of having nowhere to call home after returning from proud military service in Iraq. Numerous soldiers are sleeping in shelters or in their cars because they have lost their footing on their previous life prior to serving our military in the war. I think this is disgusting and appalling and I hope the issue gets addressed with the priority these brave soldiers deserve.

There is also word going around that more and more soldiers are returning from Iraq with Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome, one such story was discussed I nthe article I read that states, “Then the nightmares would start,” says the 26-year-old former Army private first class, who drove a fuel truck in Iraq. “I saw a baby decapitated when it was run over by a truck — I relived that every night.”

The word is that this problem is the dirty little secret all politicians want quiet until aftet he election, I think we need to let the cat out of the bag and make this an issue that gets addressed immediately. Across America hundreds to thousands of veterans of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan are becoming homeless, and helpless, and suffering from depression. We need to address this issue and do what we can to honor these brave individuals.

Please take the time to visit Arrgghhh and let these brave soldiers know how much you support them.
