American auto manufacturers are losing the battle when it comes to auto sales in America; maybe their plan of outsourcing their labor has finally created the fruits of their own labor. It does not take a genius to figure out that if you fire all of the American auto makers, build them in another country, then try to sell them back to the fired workers, the plan will not work. What is wrong with the plan?
The ones building should be the ones buying but these genius CEO’s who relied on outsourcing failed to see beyond their own immediate greed and anxiety. Many CEO’s rely on outsourcing because they have no business intelligence, now they are seeing that all they are really doing so contributing to their own demise.
In order to sustain a market share you need to support the market share, you cannot build in Asia and Mexico and expect to sell here in America. You must build and sell in the same country; otherwise there is an imbalance that will not correct itself. You want to know why Honda, and Toyota, are leading the market shares in America? It’s because they are building new plants in America, they are supporting the workers and creating a market. How much longer will it take stupid CEO’s top see that outsourcing leads to a slow demise, not an economic boom.
Outsourcing is akin to duct taping, sure it works for now but in the long term you just have a larger problem. This is the problem many companies are now facing, they thought they could outsource jobs and yet still sell products to Americans who have been displaced by foreign labor, think again geniuses.
Outsourcing is not a key to winning it’s the door to decline, and now the big Three are finding this out. However, they are in a quandary, they have invested heavily in the outsourcing of America and now they cannot scramble fast enough to regain their footing. Meanwhile, Toyota, and Honda, are building new plants in America and providing jobs, that is why they are selling cars and trucks.
We will no longer be fooled by the token black man in a suit and tie, or the Caucasian white soccer mom, we understand they are merely telling us to buy American but the companies they represent are not heading their own advice. How can they ask us to buy American when the cars they build are built by parts and pieces created half way around the world?
The Big Three lay off Americans and build in foreign lands, and then they say buy American, just because you stick an American label on the foreign made piece of crap does not make it American. We are not fools any longer.
If Ford, GM, and Chrysler, want market share back they need to create American jobs. We will not buy your car as a way to subsidize your future outsourcing of our jobs. Until the Big Three make a more solid commitment to America they will suffer the indignity of losing out to Toyota and Honda, I for one hope they learn a lesson and do things the right way for American workers and American made cars.
