The 2006 Governors election in Michigan might as well be the national election, every issue being bandied about in Michigan is an issue which is affecting the whole United States of America, and it is this reason that makes Michigans’ election the Petri dish for all of politics. Michigan is a state that has been built on years and years of manufacturing, steel milling, and product creation.
Michigan has been one of the states hardest hit by what is known as globalization. Is Michigan a victim or a lagger? Is it fair to call Michigan a casualty or a loser? The term you use most likely reflects your political affiliation but in reality the problems affecting Michigan are the problems facing all of America and this is why many political analysts are watching the states elections so closely.
Can you blame job loss solely on one candidate? How can Jennifer Granholm stop greedy unappreciative uncaring disloyal CEO’s from outsourcing jobs? Many say that by creating legislation favorable to business taxation a politician can make a difference, others say that greed has exceeded common sense and decency and that you cannot blame a politician any longer. Who is right and who is wrong? The answer holds the key to Americas’ future.
As the Michigan Governors campaign starts to heat up we are seeing the Michigan candidates for governor offer up diverse outlooks and plans for the Michigan economy. The Republicans see the Michigan economy on a downturn; the Democrats see it beginning to show an up tick. The Republicans say it is the Democratic leadership in Michigan which has caused the state to lag in job creation, the Democrats say it is the Republicans’ President, Congress, and Senate, which have passed legislation favoring outsourcing American jobs that has caused Michigan to be in the shape it is in.
Republican candidate for Governor Dick DeVos said “ Michigan’s worst in the nation economy is plummeting further in the wrong direction. Michigan has a jobs problem, and it’s not getting better…there can be no spinning or sugar-coating a sagging economy that has badly hurt friends, neighbors and co-workers.” Conversely, current Governor Jennifer Granholm says that her state has faced the brunt of poor Republican policies and that despite these policies her own policies will be the engine that will propel Michigan’s economy to a brighter future. State Democrats have stated that, “that when an auto consortium wanted to build a new engine plant, it chose Monroe County because Jennifer Granholm took action, made Michigan’s case, and won.”
Michigan Election Campaign Is National Petri Dish For Politics
About right. And what is DeVos planning to do about it? I think the Freep gets this one right, too.
I hope more people become aware and take a stand. I like the flavor of this type of discussion. I would also like to say that I feel the writers of this site have very creative thoughts and ideas and although there are a few mispells I don’t read for the writing, I read here because its very relevant topics and issues usually discussed in a very original manner. Keep up the fight men and women of the Voteswagon staff.
