Don’t Blame Illegal Immigration For Unemployment or Low Wages

Illegal immigration is a hot topic, it needs more attention than it is getting. However, we cannot blame the state of Americas’ economy on illegal immigrants as much as we should lay the blame on cowardice outsourcing CEO’s who have lost their ability to create a buck from a dollar. Illegal immigrants have a small effect on your standard of living, conversely outsourcing labor has a major effect on your standard of living, and it is for this reason that the confusion on illegal immigration needs to be cleared up.

People think it’s the illegal immigrants who are driving down their salaries and wages, this is wrong, traitorous so-called American companies would have you believe this but in reality its these traitorous outsourcing companies which are costing you the ability to enjoy a respectable job with a respectable wage. Illegal immigration has been painted as a costly problem, an economic necessity and a political football as the debate surrounding it has gathered steam. For security reasons the issue should be addressed. However, for economic reasons we can stop looking at illegal immigration, it does not really have that big of an effect on our economy.

The Wall Street Journal Online asked economists Gordon Hanson of the University of California, San Diego, and Philip Martin, of the University of California, Davis, to discuss the underlying causes of immigration (both legal and illegal), its historical roots and the nature of the current political uproar over the issue.

I have posted the link to the Wall Street Journal article so that you can read and judge for yourself. I feel you should inform yourself before referring to immigrants as job stealers any further. Why Americans allow companies to say buy American while they build foreign is beyond me. We despise Toyota for trying to enter into NASCAR but it appears to me that Toyota is the only major auto-manufacturer actually crating jobs in America rather than outsourcing them.

Read this very important Wall Street Journal article and then discuss how you feel with others, I feel this is a very important topic that deserves your attention and discussion.

One comment for “Don’t Blame Illegal Immigration For Unemployment or Low Wages”

  1. If the momentum of undocumented worker employment continues, it can most certainly affect unemployment and low wages. If a company can save as much as 10% in employee wages by paying 90%, that percentage can be invested in marketing and research, giving the company an edge on competing companies, who must then be obligated to adopt the same hiring policy just to survive. While this situation is hypothetical, it is also likely, according to fundamentals of logistics management. Furthermore, I’ve read the Wall Street Journal article- you may want to provide examples to back up unsubstantiated claims to CEOs’ failure to turn a buck from a dollar.
