The Iraqi leadership in Iraq is advising that they believe American forces should be out of Iraq totally by 2008. However, President Bush believes the newly formed government in Iraq may be looking at the future through rosy colored glasses and he advised that American boots on the ground may be there longer than the Iraqi government predicts. My question is ‘How can we stay longer than they want us?’ The majority of the newly formed government in Iraq keeps discussing timetables which favor Americans leaving sooner rather than later. However, soon safer each public announcement there is an American politician announcing that we will probably be staying longer than anticipated. What gives? Who actually has the say in this matter? I believe all involved would most likely want Americans out of that situation as quickly as possible so hopefully the issue gets addressed and we get our brave men and woman back on American soil.
Many believe the death of the terrorist leader Abu Musab al-Zarqawi would hasten America’s departure but the White House is quick to temper that false enthusiasm. However, one Iraqi spoke about American forces in relation to the terrorist situation in Iraq by stating, “I believe by the end of this year the number of the multinational forces will be probably less than 100,000 in this country, and by the end of next year most of the multinational forces will have gone home.”
We went in for one reason and we are mired in Iraq for another. I believe its time we finally draw up the 4th quarter game plan and end this mission. We did not find WMD’s, which is an issue that I feel still deserves more attention, but we did do some good by removing a tyrannical dictator. However, many are now asking if this man, Sadaam Hussein, was a vicious dictator or just a hard handed prisoner warden? I believe we know the answer to this question but the recent violence in Iraq does lead one to question what type of leader is actually needed to control this hotbed of violence and terrorism.
Bush Needs Better Iraq Exit Strategy
In the year before he succumb to cancer, Col. Hackworth. a gung-ho marine from the Nam era, was barred from the media, because he wanted to bring to our attention his feedback from those serving in Iraq.
He had asked those serving to send him e-mail’s expressing their views about life on the ground in Iraq. He received numerous horror stories of endangering troops, poor logistical tactics, an environment made more and more insecure and dangerous, fear, enormous stress, and confusion about the reasons for serving. A full two-thirds of the service personel (in a sample of about 2000 e-mails from way back in late 2003 to mid 2004) wanted us out in less than a year.
This information, like hundred’s of other stories that question the lunacy of this war, was suppressed by the corporate neo-con mass media.
If you and your friend and realtives want a more reasonable approach to this war-with a comprehensive exit strategy that will get us out safely, with honor, and will not lead to a civil war-go to my blog:sevenpointman
