Iraqi Prime Minister Gives Potential Timetable

The new Iraqi Prime Minister has done something we have been waiting for from our own President for a long time; he set a timetable for American troop withdrawal. The timetable is not set in stone but it is very appealing to the American public and it breathes optimism into a policy that is becoming more and more a potential pitfall each day.

The Bush Administration has been as winding as a ten curve road in regards to policy shifts in Iraq but one thing has stayed consistent, they have not committed, or even hinted, at mention of a troop withdrawal. The Prime minister said it could be a reality realized as soon as 2007, this is good news for our brave men and woman as well as the American citizens who support our troops back home.

The war in Iraq has grown into a quandary for the American public, we want the issue resolved but we also want to see more immediate results. We have been told to be patient but we have not been told why we should be patient, it feels like we are constantly being told to hurry up and wait. Now with the recent comments by the Iraqi Prime minister there is hope that the issue will be resolved sooner rather than later.

There are numerous setbacks still occurring each day in Iraq but it appears that Iraqi politicians are ready to step up and start addressing the situation themselves. On this effort I applaud them. I hope there is substance o the Prime Ministers speech and his words are backed up with action.

I think all involved are ready for a resolution.
