How Can America Afford Illegal Immigrants?

Maybe I’m the idiot here but I want someone to explain to me how Social Security and Medicare can be going broke according to the Bush Administration and yet the same Administration advises we need to add millions of illegals to the system thusly further taxing an already going broke system. How can a system hell-bent on its way to devastation take on additional 5 million or so individuals and not get worse? What is going on here in the White House, it appears their double talk has collided and no one has any real answers to the hard questions.

The trustees of Social Security and Medicare have come out to say that they believe that the Social Security trust fund will be out of funds by the year 2040. They also have stated that they believe the Medicare trust fund will be depleted in 2018. If these facts are true then how can President Bush, or anyone else with any intelligence, just allow 5 million more to pile right on to the overburdened system?

We know the system is going down; we don’t need any further bleak details of future horror. What we need is some answers and I want to cast my vote for the politician that resolves our gas issue as well as saves Social Security, and promptly address the immigration issue correctly. We have set our standards so low that most say this is a lot to ask for. However, I disagree, I say we deserve this and we should not settle for anything less.

The trustees stated the following in their report:
2017: System starts to take in less in payroll tax than it has promised to pay in benefits. The system will have to begin to tap the trust fund.
2040: System can only pay 74% of currently promised benefits.
