Condi Tries To Hold Back Bush Bashers

Do you still trust President Bush and Condoleezza Rice? Would you follow them back into battle? Times are tough for the Bush Administration but regardless of their popularity numbers they press on with their agendas. U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has been very busy the last few days as she tries to defend troop levels in Iraq as well as stay on the offensive in regards to Iran.

Condi has spent a lot of time and energy refuting proposed statements made by Colin Powell who many have said repeatedly states that he had made a case to send more troops to deal with the war’s aftermath. Condoleezza has stated that she did not remember specifically what instances Colin Powell was referring to on his recommending to President Bush that more troops be sent. Reportedly Powell stated, “I don’t think we had enough force there to impose order…The aftermath turned out to be much more difficult than anyone had anticipated…I made the case to General (Tommy) Franks, to (Defense) Secretary (Donald) Rumsfeld and to the president that I was not sure we had enough troops.” Powell sticks to his guns by stating repeatedly that the military leaders felt they had the appropriate number during the onset of the war.

In response to concern about Powells’ remarks, Secretary Rice appeared on several Sunday talk shows. She did her best to alleviate concerns raised by the remarks. The Secretary was also busy trying to build support for the Bush Administrations stance on Iran. Secretary Rice accused Iran playing games with the international community over its clandestine nuclear program. Secretary Rice stated, “Every time they get close to a Security Council decision, there is some effort to say, ‘Oh no, we really were in fact interested in that proposal that we rejected a few weeks ago.’ Or, ‘No, now the IAEA can come,…they’ve had plenty of time to cooperate.”

This administration suffers from the boy who cried wolf syndrome. Although it is probably good that Sadaam was removed it has been bad for Americas’ image that no WMD’s have been found in Iraq. The ongoing insurgency and instability in Iraq do not help either. The Bush Administration needs to put the hammer down and take care of business once and for all, that is what will be good for America and the world.
