I appreciate the Senate trying but their chicken for every pot policy will not resolve our oil issue. The Senate is discussing a policy change whereby every American taxpayer would get a $100 rebate check to offset the ache of higher pump prices for gasoline. This is a noble idea and I would appreciate the $100 bucks but all that would really happen would be that the oil traders would sense that we had a little more and they would see this as an opportunity to jack us once more at the pumps.
The proposed plan alleviates the symptoms but does not actually resolve the disease. Between the oil companies and the oil traders, we are getting nailed on two ends and throwing more money at the problem is just feeding the illness.
The Senate needs to address the pyramid scamming, ponzi acting, and boiler room tactics of the oil commodities traders. They are the ones who call up big money players and get them to invest in the commodities market; this is what drives up the price of oil. Big money wants more money and there is a ravenous market out there and you and I are the bait fish in this wild geographic ocean of oil manipulation.
Trust me, you can give us all the money you want and all that will do is allow market traders to jack us more and more. We need to address the issue at its root. We need to investigate the system right from oil drilling to the actual delivery of a barrel. We need to know exactly where the buck is stopping and being pocketed, and then we will know who is gouging us.
Hype and hyperbole is expected in an election year but I say we need to see concrete results before the elections if the incumbents expect us to vote them back in.
Representative Bart Stupak recently stated, “There’s no reason why we can’t put forth a real energy policy that addresses the needs of this nation…from gouging to market manipulation to bio-fuels. We can do it.”
