President Bush Takes The Hammer, Can He Respond?

President Bush has received his latest approval ratings and they were not exactly what the Republican President was looking for. However, if you listen to the President the numbers are actually just a reflection of the hard choices he has had to make not really a reflection of him. Numerous Washington insiders say that this President has endured more hardship than almost any other President in American history. You can believe that or you can argue he is just the most inept President America has ever had. Either way, he has some hard decisions to make soon, so whether you like him or not what he decides will dramatically impact your future as well as the future of the Republican Party.

The President is currently under pressure in regards to the high gasoline prices, the illegal immigration issue, and all of the unrest in the Middle East. Add to the mix all of the issues on his backburner and you can see that this man is simmering in a stew of dismay.

In response to the gas issue, the President has ordered an investigation into possible cheating in the oil markets. Many say the President would only make a half hearted effort in this area but the Republican Party has let it be known, they want this dog to bite. Republicans know the country believes Bush is in cohorts with the major oil companies and even though this is just a mythical assumption it is cause enough for the Republicans to be concerned in the upcoming elections. The Republicans want real effort and actions on the issue, they want to be able to tell their supporters that the Republicans do care and they are all not in cohorts with big rich oil companies.

In regards to the immigration issue, President Bush made a big mistake saying Monday that nothing can really be done about the 11 million illegal immigrants in the country already. Numerous citizens across America feel like the President has just thrown his hands up in despair, they say this is not the American way. There is a problem and it needs to be fixed and if the Republicans can’t do anything maybe the Democrats might be able to. This issue really has Republicans concerned because the illegal immigration issue was closely tied to what potential voters have said would influence their vote.

In regards to Iraq, and Iran. Many Americans feel we are not seeing any real tangible progress. Americans are now routinely stating that they feel the whole Middle East issue is becoming a failed policy that either needs to be resolved or abandoned. No longer do Americans feel compelled to support the Iraq policy because of President Bush’s patriotic statements. Americans want us to win this war once and for all or get out immediately. They are saying louder and louder that we are not the world’s traffic cops and many more are saying this each day.

Add all this sup and throw in the rest of the issues President Bush is dealing with and you see that he is definitely in a tumultuous situation. He needs to display strong leadership and resolve and he needs to bring satisfactory closure to some of his long standing issues.
