Mohammed El-Baradei is expected to supply a report to the U.N. Friday and this should give us a clearer picture of the threat Iran actually poses to World peace. The United Nations Security Council is expected to receive the report Friday from the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency. The report is expected to provide details to the U.N. on whether Iran has complied with the Security Council’s demands to stop its uranium enrichment program.
Iran has already said it will not stop its current course of action regardless of what the U.N. decides to do with the report it receives. They have advised that they are on a course from which there is no turning back. Sounds like determination to me. What type of determination is up for discussion but they don’t sound like someone who is holding their breadth waiting for the report. I think they know that the greed for their oil exceeds common sense in most instances and they are banking on this to diffuse any sanctions offered. Remember, Iraq was actually selling more oil during the sanctions than they are now so you tell me, how much should Iran really be afraid?
Iran has stated repeatedly in the last two weeks that its nuclear program is solely for peaceful purposes. However, countries in Europe as well as the United States believe Iran plans to build a nuclear arsenal. I don’t think it takes a genius to see that their real intention is building weapons of mass destruction. Any world leader who says differently is sure to be the first to try and sneak in to buy illegal oil from Iran should sanctions be applied. I do not believe there has been one answer provided as to why Iran has enriched uranium without building a power plant to use it. What idiot buys a tank of gas and puts it in a jar before he has a car to fill up? Sound ridiculous, and stupid, at the same time doesn’t it? Well welcome to the logic that some rats are actually applying in regards to Iran.
World policy experts believe the U.N. Security Council will have to discuss possible sanctions against Iran but with Chinese greed exceeding their intelligence you cannot be confident any real measures will arise anytime soon.
Daryl Kimball, head of the Arms Control Association recently summed it up best by stating, “The problem for the United States is that the only way that these sanctions are going to work is if there is strong support from the international community…And the United States cannot push ahead with this approach any faster than the international community, the Security Council in particular, is willing to go. So the next step is unclear. If the United States pushes for stronger actions against Iran, these targeted political and economic sanctions, and the Russians and the Chinese resist, and then it is quite possible the Security Council will be deadlocked, they will not be able to take any action.”
Whatever the action is we need it to be taken immediately, patience is not an option.
