Do you remember when you were a kid and someone would ask you if you could sit down and talk with someone who would it be? Well as we grew up our answers invariably changed but one person that intrigues the masses is the Chinese president Hu Jintao, and President Bush has the chance of a lifetime to sit and talk with this man and actually make something out of his second term of presidency.
Hu Jintao is making his first visit to the United States since becoming president of China. Many say he wants to come here and alleviate recent tension over America’s trade and currency concerns, others say he is here to see how his investments are doing. Don’t forget, its China that is buying up all of Americas’ foreign debt. President Bush has a chance to sit down and talk with the Chinese president; I hope he makes the most of it.
So many associate China with Wal-Mart that it amazes me how we appear to forget that Wal-Mart is actually an American made company. However, like so many companies the Chinese government has intoxicated into trade, Wal-Mart is just another example of the pull the Chinese president enjoys throughout the industrialized world. Regardless of the fact that China has manipulated their countries currency and business climate to a point where the drug of doing business with China is a most intoxicating drug, no foreign dignitaries ever calls the Chinese president out. Everyone turns a blind eye to the unfair labor practices, and predatory business climate, they acquiesce to the Chinese president and send him on his merry way. I hope President Bush shows some cowboy balls and calls the Chinese president out.
Screw the Brokeback Mountain photo op meeting; I hope President Bush goes for the gusto. He needs to open with both barrels and tell the Chinese president that his neglecting of human rights will not be tolerated. He also needs to remind the president of China that as a civilized and industrial nation they have a responsibility to maintain a fair and legitimate business climate. They cannot be allowed to export 5 times what they import because of unfair tariffs and mandates.
President Bush also needs to remind him that Islamic terrorism must not be ignored for the acceptance of cheap oil. However, I think once Islam gets a bigger whiff of the atheist nature of China they will soon find out themselves how much of a problem this has become in the world today.
