Is War With Nuclear Iran Inevitable?

War with Iran seems to be the furthest thing from the Bush Administrations mind, which leads me to believe it is foremost on their thoughts. With all of the talk about nuclear development, and deployment, I don’t see how President Bush can resist actually sending in the dogs to hunt down their Weapons of Mass Destruction. Bush turned the dogs loose in Iraq to no avail but he won’t make the same mistake twice.

President Bush dismissed as “wild speculation” reports that his administration has discussed the use of nuclear strikes against sites in Iran as a way to stop the Iran from building nuclear weapons. With the revelation that Iran has acquired successful enrichment it appears the stakes of the issue have went up dramatically.<

President Bush is talking the public media circuit and telling all who will lend him an ear that his administration is trying to resolve the Iranian nuclear issue through diplomacy. The President went on to remark that, "The doctrine of prevention is to work together to prevent the Iranians from having a nuclear weapon… We hear in Washington, you know, 'prevention means force.' It doesn't mean force necessarily. In this case, it means diplomacy.”

Similar statements have been made throughout Washington by Bush Administration officials, which leads Washington insiders to believe that all White house insiders have been given the party line for now and that there must be some merit to the statements in regards to the use of force in Iran. The Washington Post reported that the administration is studying options for military strikes against Iran as part of a broader strategy of coercive diplomacy.

There have been reports that soldiers are on the ground in Iran but these are merely unsubstantiated reports. There are also reports that an unmanned drone has been downed inside Iranian borders, but this is also unsubstantiated.

Bush Needs To Get Grip On Iran Debate
